So…whats our options for 1/72 U-Boat figures at this time OR in the near future?
Not an awful lot I have ordered the 2 sets from Hannants they have taken the money but no delivery as yet, I hate it when that happens gggggrrrrr. 4 weeks and waiting…
There is a company in Germany that does figures but as I am at work I haven’t got the time to look for them will look tonight and E mail you tomorrow, from what I remember they are about three times the price of the Czechmaster ones but miles better in detail and pose.[
I’ve only seen the bridge crew, which has one figure in rain gear and the rest without and a bunch of crew members loitering around the deck. It would be nice to have a gun crew in action or some guys actually loading provisions rather than sitting on them. Also, a bridge crew that’s all in one uniform (fair or foul weather). I’m not going to order anything until I see something that will work well on the boat. Also, three figures for ten dollars US? hmm… I don’t buy many 1/72 scale figures, but that seems a bit steep to me.

I just want some decent look outs at the tower for a quick surface to see what going on…maybe two with binoculars and the captain and first Officer.
OR
Charging the batteries with some crew ready at the guns?
I’m a little surprised that there is not more of a selection at this point.

I put all mine inside… Saved a lot of time painting them…
Now if I could only figure out how to stop them from rattling around in there…

I’m going for the CMK kit…the captain is questionable BUT! the two lookouts with the binoculars at their eyes is just right!..plus it wasn’t rare for a u-boat to have just two at the tower for a ‘quick’ surface and looksie.

You might want to look for:
1:72nd scale British Infantry (after the evacuation of Dunkirk, the Germans acquired thousands of British uniforms. A slightly modified version was popular with U-boat officers.)
1:72 German tank crews (I think, but in 1944 German tankers wore a leather uniform very similar to the kind worn my by U-boat mates and enlisted crewmembers).

I can’t remember where I stole the image from…I had in in my VIIC file from months ago.
Who is a good online shop to order these from? I looked at Squadrons site and couldn’t find CMK listed

Try Hannants, their catalogue is as thick as New York phone directory, well nearly all items when in stock are available over the net they export and send newsletters over the net as well, they contacted me over my figures waiting for delivery from CMK too many U boats about, Papa Echo yours has just been zunk mein herr I vant mein figures!
They’re available at Red Lancers in Philadelphia at about $10USD per set. They also have another really nice-looking set of 4 crewmen with signal flags, etc. for about $14USD.
A number of older “wargame-type” Luftwaffe figures by Heller, Airfix, Prieser, etc. may be easily modified, but watch out for size differences (1/76 scale, RR scales, etc.).

This subject has appeared on other forums and this might be an alternative that may give you more variety of poses, etc.: It is posible to use figures of german tank crewmen since some of the uniform elements were similar to u-boat uniforms; also, some British military figures may be used since the u-boat forces used British uniforms that were taken as spoils of war following the retreat from Dunkirk. A little creative cutting and matching can produce very credible results. Hope this helps.
On a nice day, the crew might be out there in flannels shirts and what not, no hats. Maybe even civilians would work.

I understand all of your frustration. It is difficult to find Navy figures in any scale. I have been searching for 1/35 or 1/32 and have had to resort to modifying other figures. Do you think anyone will realize that all the military is not either soldiers or marines when ir comes to figures?

Papa-Echo 64, Great Models has the figures by CMK. They also show two additional sets 72117 crew with stores and 72117 crew at rest. Great Models indicates that the first set 72116 has been discontinued. I ordered two of set 72116, hope get what I ordered.

[:)]Actually, CzechMaster (CMK) has the 72116 (Bridge), 72117(crew at rest), 72118 (crew provisioning) and 72127(another crew-at-rest set). Squadron has had them all at one time or another, but is out of them all at the time of this posting.[:(]

I rec’d this e-mail from Squadron today.
These are currently out of stock. We should have them restocked in about 2 weeks. I have no idea if there will be additonal sets other than the four they already offer.
