What is New Tooling?

hey i was wondering, In those kits that say “All New Tooling” what exactly does this mean? Many thanks

Well, lets say you have a really old kit. Maybe back then, the advanced technology and moulding capabilities were not used. So what the company does is that they re-tool the moulds ( or part of it) to “up the ante”. Their making older kits better.

A lot of research goes into the building of today’s models. For instance take Tamiya’s Tiger 1 late. Tamiya built new molds to correct the turrent dimentions that were wrong on their old kits.

Companies also retool their kits to correct inaccuracies in earlier kits. Dragon’s Hummel and Nashorn kits come to mind. Dragon has retooled some of their current kits as errors are found. The 251 series, the KT kits and the Panzer I have all had errors fixed in later versions.
