"What-If" Air Racer

Hi everyone,

After the post the other day featuring the Blohm & Voss P.170, I got to thinking how good that thing would look dressed out as an Unlimited Air Racer… here’s the beast; “Superstitious”

Take care, [:)]
Frank

I think Frank has too much time on his hands. [:)] Just kidding, looks cool.

Frank,

Is that a kit ? Or electronc artwork ? - the only reason I’m asking is that you said you just thought about it “the other day”.

Either way - Very cool !

Chris

I’ve always wondered about a Do-335 racer, or maybe a XP-72.

Weird but wonderful.

Regards, Rick

I agree, wierd but wonderful (having way too much fun with photochop)

Frank’s got WAAAY too much time on his hands…
But that plane DOES look really cool…a 3D model of the thing would look great.

Here’s the image I used to make the racer (yes Chris, it’s just an electronic chop)… an expensive 1/72 Planet Models kit. “Way too much time on my hands”… actually, I had thought about getting the kit and modifying it into an air racer; that image is how I’d thought about painting it. Doing this helps me visualize ideas. [:)]

(besides, it only took about 30 minutes to draw) [;)][:)]

Take care,
Frank

Really neat idea and artwork. I have never figured out how to get photo edit programs to do that kind of thing. Which one did you use?

Thanks Darwin,

I use an ancient version of MGI PhotoSuite… got use to it, it comes out okay, so I never upgraded or tried anything else. On it, as with other photo editing programs, there are several selections of editing tools; on this particular subject, I simply airbrushed different shades of black over the original picture, zooming in to do some of the cover-up.
The Illustrations I post in here from time to time are made on with the MGI program.

I enjoy doing artwork (see signature pic), which is and always will be my first love… modeling started out as a good reference tool for the paintings, but soon developed into a genuine hobby in itself. I will usually move from one to the other as a means of taking a break, but occassionally have to share my work desk. [:)]

These computers are like extra hands to indulge even more! [:)]

Thanks to the rest of you also,
Take care,
Frank

I’ve had my eye on that kit for quite a while, just not the $$$$ to back it up (yet). Mark my words, though, I will get that kit and build it eventually.

It’s an interesting idea with the Air Racer sceme, too. The actual plane was designed for speed, which explains the lack of any defensive armament. (think the Skeeter…) It could work.
