What-If -- Afrika Korps Me-262

You are going to have Monty and Georgie rolling over in their graves with that one. It sure would have a big difference in the Africa Campaign to have a Squadron or two of the jets deal misery to the Allies.

This is a pic of a tropical filter on a Bf 109G-2 Trop (Black 6). The forward clamshells close on the ground during takeoff, and open in flight for greater airflow. There is a wire mesh around the portion of the intake that is in use during takeoff. The Jumo 004 engine was very delicate, and filters would be a must. Maybe you can get some ideas from this pic.

aaaw MAN!! thats lookin’ sweet Wayne!! great job. later.

I’d like to see that.

BTW great work so far.

Speaking of filters-anyone who worked with jets know if they need filters?Allen

sorry, didn’t mean to post this twice.

Wayne,

Really nice looking plane. I remember seeing the ME-262 that Rick-rjkplasticmod referred to in either an old Finescale or maybe even Scalemodeler. I’ll see if I can find my issue - there were some interesting looking filters made for the engines.

Steve

Thanks again all, you are all very kind.
Thanks pixilator for the pic. I appreciate any help I can get on this.
Steve - That would great if you can find the articles on the filters.

Yardbird - I agree with you. That is one big what-ifs of the war. How much of a difference would it have made if the Me262 was fully combat operational and used to its best abilities at the beginning of the war? The 262 by itsself I don’t think would have changed the overall outcome of the war. But the Luftwaffe would have been a much more powerful and devastating force than it all ready was!! Some of the major battles might have come out very differently with the help of sqadrons of Me262s.

Good modeling,
Wayne

Really cool!!

Wow!! That is cool. Awesome paint work. Thanks for the peek!

Hey Wayne… I just went over to armorama.com to check out that campaign. That looks like Tons-o-Fun! [:D]

In the next few weeks I’ll be able to tell if my schedule will be clear enough to join in on the the fun… But having seen your work my ideas are flowing… [:-,]

Excellent BigTon [#welcome][tup]
It would be great if you joined up with us. The campaign is still going on for a while and I can always extend it further for anyone who needs extra time to complete their project.
You might have all ready been there, done that. But if you decide to join up and need help in enlisting up in the campaign send me a PM at armorama and I wil be glad to help you out. My user name there is the same as here at FSM - Wad_ware.
Hope to hear from you and good modeling,
Wayne

Intersesting scheme and very nice build so far.

Joe

what about doing one in the markings of the Japanese Army Air Force.

Thanks ninedriver. Your Me262 looks great too [tup]

Mikeym_us - a 262 would definately look good in IJN schemes. I would love to see one painted up in one of the cool jungle schemes. Actually…it would look great painted up in the simple lt. gray schemes like some of the aircraft that attacked Pear Harbor.
