Its 1230 in the morning here in the eastern time zone, and I just finished watching a great scifi movie. I found it just today at Best Buy on DVD. From 1984, The Last Starfighter. Yeah, can you believe it?! The Gunstar. Wow what a concept. I am seriuosly considering trying to scratchbuild that thing.
And just while I’m on the idea of what I could really go for. How about the Andromeda Ascendant. There has to be some Andromeda fans out there. Maybe if we pressured Polar Lights enough they’d make one.
These are just some thoughts,I wanted to share.
I’ve been thinking about scratchbuilding a Gunstar for a long time now, that thing is such a great design. The only problem is coming up with the required shots or lineart to go by.
The Andromeda ascendant would be great too, though I’d probably wait for a kit of some sort to come out. It really looks like it would be a challenge to scratchbuild.
Why scratch build something that already has a beautifull kit out? (Listen to me talk!) ![]()
Monsters in Motion has a great 1/48th scale resin kit that is quite nice.

I saw Randy Cooper’s Gunstar up close and personal a while back, complete with lights. Nice guy to talk to. The Andromeda ship would present a difficult scratch with all those narrow arcs. Would be impressive if pulled off though.
A Gunstar would be cool.[;)] I wouldn’t really be interested in an Andromeda. I like my ships to look like they were designed to be functional. The Andromeda and most of the B5 alien ships look to stylized for my taste.
Cobywan, thanks so much, I had no idea that a Gunstar was done. My birthday is coming up so that could be a done deal.
I like the Andromeda, and that would be an great challenge. I would really like to built one of the Slipfighter. I really like the resin replica weapons and would like to see a Force Lance as well. I have a resin Lightsaber and it actually looks great.
