So what would happen if i were to put a little too much thinner in the paint? Im just curious. Thanks alot.

It will spray sort of watery and not cover well.

I overthinned some laquers one time way too much and it was a bad move. The piece I was working on became very soft and I ended up ruining it. With water based acrylics thinned too much the paint just wouldn’t stick it would be like spraying water on the model though it wouldn’t get ruined.

Thanks guys. I may have thinned some acrylic too much but im not sure. Ill spray it on a scrap peice and see how it covers.

usually the times I have over thinned acrylic it tends to spray out watery and cover the surface, but then it beads up on the plastic. I have noticed this with Tamiya paints the most…
well, just add a little paint til you get it back to normal friend. i use some extremely thin paints sometimes for subtle weathering and panel shading. just make sure the pressure is very low, as in below 10 psi most of the times. but for broad coverage, you want to be somewhere around 60/40 to 50/50. spray it and see, although it will effect the paints adhesion properties as has been mentioned. later.

I asked because i mixed some white i was gonna use to kinda fade a torn flag into gloss blue for a truck im doin. If that makes sense. Thanks guys.

that makes perfect sense Randy, all you can do is play with it. don’t use too much white though, it will give it a “frosted” appearance instead of faded. i would add a drop of gloss blue to the thin, white paint and this will knock the “edge” off the white a little. good luck!! later.

If it’s acrylic paint that you thinned too much, just leave the top off the bottle for about 10 seconds and it will thicken back up again [:p]
