Eduard has made agreements with Italari as well. It’s starting to become common to see different manufacturers packaging kits under other brands. My recent purchase of an Accurate Minatures F2G has the original Special Hobby plastic in the box along with some resin and PE. The main addition from Accurate Minatures was a different set of decals and a new box.
Hasegawa, Tamiya, Monogram and Revell have been doing it for years. Common practice in the industry.
I just hope Lindbergh doesn’t sell their Japanese sub molds to Tamiya or Hasegawa and try to market it as a scale model…
You see this all the time now with Italieri and Tamiya on a wide range of subjects. Usually the Italieri kit is priced cheaper. I just wonder if with the Italian tank models if they are separate ones or if Tamiya is now using the Italieri kits of the M13/40 and Semevente? Actually, the Italieri kit was considered the better of the two even though both molds are old.

The Tamiya and Italeri M13/40 and Sovemente are not the same kit. They are different moldings completely.
I got a Hobby Craft 1/32 F3F Wildcat, but when you look at the plastic parts, the Trumpeter logo can clearly be seen in the corner (no indications it was attempted to be covered up)
Italeri does it with Testors kits as well. I had an Italeri F4 Phantom kit that was missing pieces, and I couldn’t get them through Italeri, but I was able to get them through Testors. The kits were identical.
A lot of companies do that now, which sometimes cheeses me off. If I want a kit made by a certain company, I do not want a remade version of a kit from another company. Luckily Lindburg and Starfix don’t seem to be propagating this way.
There is also the alliance between Classic Airframes and MPM/Special Hobbies. For example, their Fiat BR.20 in 1/48, they are the same except for decal sets. Classic Airframes has the Japanese decals, and MPM/Special Hobbies has the other decals sets.
