forgive me if i asked a stupid question. i saw lot of user name has “geoff” attach to something. what does it mean? do not want to offend anybody.
A first name, perhaps?
I believe it may just be the person’s name. I could be wrong, of course.
It may also be pronounced the same as “Jeff,” but then again, I may be wrong about that too.
What say thee, those who may be named “Geoff?”

I think Geoffrey would be more common spelling in Britain, while Jeffrey would be more typical here in America. As the saying goes, two great nations, separated by common language!
I was born in France… it is a more common spelling in Europe. As gburden mentioned as the french meaning “devine peace” (i was told my name meant peace of god…)
My parents had to be different. Instead of Jeffrey my full name is Jeffery.
Not that it matters. I just go by Jeff.
