Hi all, and Happy new year (so soon!)[8D]
I’ve been wodering for a while about the Tamiya’s F1 full view kits. Now it seems that they havent tried to be easy with the ejection process thus leaving lot’s of ejector pin marks. That’s a lot of work to clean up.[:(!]
I dont find clear cars so intersting. I like to ‘remove’ the cowls and show off the inside, like the real thing. However it appears that clear models have more details inside them like bulkheads, and espescialy at the front end, the front suspension mechanisem.
So is better to buy clear cars with more details and paint them regulary?
I’m asking this cuz I’m considering buying the latest williams and ferraries. Anyone with these kits will help me decide on buying the more expansive clear models or save a bit of money buying the normal ones.
Thanks alot and HAPPY NEW MODELING YEAR!!! [:D][:D][:D]
i have not got either of the kits but i would probably go for the non-clear one as if you want to see more detail you could just have the shell off the body, also the clear body looks odd and weird in my personal oppinion. but i think you should go with what you like better[swg][swg][swg]
There has been some comment in the Williams group build about the “clear” Williams check it out, about page 7. The clear body will still take the paint. If you want to add detail then go for the clear model and paint and decal as normal or you could get the “normal” version and buy the aftermarket detail sets which will add even more detail. I have decided to do the latter but its really a personnal choice and what $$$ you have. Inspect both versions at your local model shop.
I am not fond of the clear “Full-view” models, I would rather do my own cut-away model or only paint one half of the Body so that both a clear view and the exerior colour can be seen.
I must admit to being in two minds in this one.
I like the idea of being able to see the interior detail and having the maker add extra features for that purpose BUT I like to see the model as close to the real thing as I can get it.
That is the main reason I build them in the first place ,… for the challenge.
So far I have not built a “full view” but I will probably get there some day
Cheers, Pete…
