What do you OWN that was from WWI, WWII, Korea, VietNam or any point in between?

I have heaps of WWII Australian uniforms, post WWII Australian uniforms (webbing and bayonets). American WWII Marines cam coveralls, American webbing, assorted bayonets for same as well as 1903A3 and 1903 Mk1 Springfield, had the M41 Johnson, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine but lost them during the gun buyback in 1996. Also have American uniforms from Vietnam (cam and green) as well as Australian and Vietnamese uniforms. Also have a selection of Australian issued Rifles eg SMLE, Martini Henry, Martini Enfield, Brown bess (repo) and a few others.

Assorted miscellaneous stuff eg silk pilots map from WWII, Japanese pre WWII Katana (1930’s manufacture), WWI German Picklehaub and other WWI bits and pieces.

On top of that I also have assorted 1980’s+ Camouflage gear from Warsaw Pact, USA, New Zealand and Australia.

I forgot to mention my fathers medals (Vietnam and several others) as well as my own couple.

Thats just off the top of my head [:D]

Well, my own USN uniform, Vietnam service ribbons & medals, plus a WW2 M1 carbine (left Stateside with my brother when I moved to the UK–they’re a little sensitive about live firearms here), and a deactivated .45 automatic that I use in our WW2 re-enactment group (as a USN SP), W2W USN blue flat cap.

Cheers,

Well, I’ve got some WWI items that belonged to a great great uncle of mine, including:

hat brass of the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles (his unit)
uniform buttons
sergeant stripes
three service medals including supporting documents
gold plated pocket watch

I had a static discharger from a C-141 Starlifter, but it got lost during a move, never did see it again.

A bajonet from the Belgian army, I don’t know if it saw combat, but the insigna on the blade is that of our King Albert I, which ofcourse dates it to the WW1 era.
My parents found the bajonet many years ago during renovations in a house they just bought, it was hidden in a block of concrete above a door.

Gew 98 Mauser, 3 digit serial number, all original metal from the Orbendorf factory, 1914; 48 start silk American flag from WWII, my Dad’s dress jacket from his army greens in Korea; the boonie hat worn by my wife’s cousin in Vietnam; and a whole bunch of Iraqi “stuff” from Desert Storm.

A rusted-out piece of five inch shell that I got from Omaha beach.

Just a B-25, Not much as collections go but I like it.

A real B-25? Can you post a picture of it?

Let’s see, weaponary wise I have a WW 1 trench knife (the one with the brass knuckles), a 1943 production Springfield 1903-A3, M-1 Garand built by Winchester, M-1 Carbine by Rockola, and an Enfield Mk III and a Mk V Jungle Carbine. Memorablia wise, 5 or 6 flight helmets, numerous F-4 parts, a forward left windscreen for a P-39Q, steel pot helmets, some uniforms, a 20mm dummy round from a B-36, 30mm shell casing from an A-10 (I keep my paint brushes in it), and a bunch of other junk that I can’t think of right now.

The artifact I’m most proud of is a copy of the actual order from Eisenhower announcing the surrender of Germany. My grandfather was a munitions officer in the 8th Air Force and he managed to grab the order before it wound up in the trash. It’s very stirring to read those words and imagine what it meant to the men who had been fighting for so long.

Not much really but here goes… Original press photo of king George standing on the wing of Spitfire talking to pilot during visit to Northholt after battle of Britain.(2) Maintenence sheet for a Hawker Typhoon.(3) Alberto Vargas glamour calendars for 1940 through to 1947,All those girls that pilots copied onto their planes.Plus some Petty ones as well.(4) 40 glamour postcards printed during the war.(For the use of the troops???)(5) various bits from German bunkers here in Poland.(6) Pencil sketch of a Beaufighter signed 1942 which is very detailed so must have been done by someone in close contact with it.

So much stuff…

…for me, a pair of WW1 binoculars, not sure from which country, came from my grandfather. Not sure where he got them from as he was a farmer in Wales and didn’t serve.

My wife has some occupation currency from post war Japan, as well as Deutschmarks complete with Swastikas. Think this came from her grandfather who was MI5. He served in both world wars, he got kicked out of the army in WW1 for being 15, but not before he’d served a year in the trenches. Which I think is where his medicine vial/darning need came from contraption came from.

There’s also a picture of him on parade with King George V inspecting troops, sometime in the late 20s.

An old friend of my mothers, her husband was attached to British Intelligence in Berlin at wars end. When we visited their home for the first time for dinner,we ate the meal off of a complete dinner service he managed to liberate and successfully return to England in one piece.Nothing unusual except it came from the officers dining room at Gestapo headquarters and was emblazoned with swastikas.
It usually resided in a cabinet but for special guests they brought it out as a conversation starter!!!

I have a WW I bayonet, don’t know the model as my brother is keeping it at the moment. A 1911 U.S. government Colt, manufactured in 1917. Some nazi coins, and a Garand manufactured in 1944. A lot of my Viet Nam stuff, K-Bar, survival knife, canteens and pouches, and an M-14 bayonet. Also some clothing and MPC’s.

I have a “U.S.” uniform pin that my grandfather wore. Army, Pacific Theater.

Well, let’s see here…like my 'ole battle buddy CobraHistorian (have him tell ya about the 0200hrs recon mission we led at Odessa, in the rain) I’m a living historian, reenactor, call it what you like…

The big stuff…a partial ownership in a 1943 M3 halftrack (recently sold)
A 1972 M35A2 6x6, recently sold.
A partnership in a 1947 L-17B Navion (also recently sold, moved to WI, can’t take it with me)

The important stuff:

1943 Inland M1 carbine, carried by my grandfather, with a 5 digit serial number, and the first number is a 1. (Ser# 18537 dated April 1942). He carried it throughout the Pacific, never lost it, and managed to bring it home with him in 1945.

A complete US GI 1942 rig, khakis and wools with an M1923 Field Pack.
A complete US GI 1944 rig, khakis and wools with an M41 jacket, M1936 suspenders.
A complete US GI 1945 rig, OD7 with M-1944 pack and M43 jacket.
I also have a set of HBTs for Pacific theatre impressions, I usually mix and match from the above kits when I do that (usually in the summertime).
Six pairs of WW2 issue boots, double buckles, cap toes. 1 pair are repro, but they don’t fit too well.
A complete set of Class As.
4 different M1 helmets, fixed bale, swivel bale, front seam, etc. Building an M1C from parts.
1944 Winchester M1 Garand

All the bunk junk that goes with all this stuff, cleaning kits, mess kits, shaving kits, pro kits, etc. With the exception of the M41 jacket, socks, and T-shirts, everything is original issue.

Fun stuff:

Chinese SKS sniper
Mosin Nagant
Schmitt-Reuben 6.5 x 55
1942 Mauser (it was ‘sporterized’ in the 1950s, sadly)
AR-15
2 M1911A1s .45 ACP
1938 dated Lee-Enfield

Post WW2:

Vietnam era H3 Helo helmet.

Until recently, I could lay claim to Bell Cobra 69-0437 “Heather Dawn”, but now she’s being neglected.

Jeff (who’s very happy that he no longer has to worry about NJ gun laws)

I have my Dad’s original “Joker” shoulder patch from the 390th BG 570th sqd. My Dad said a local women from Parham made them for the squadron by hand. I would scan it to post but it is in a shadow box with some other momentos of my Dads.

My Uncle Bob’s WWII Airborne jumpsuit and his decorations, including those from Korea.
Photos taken by family members from battlefields all over the world at the time of the confilct they were involved in. My favorite is on my late Uncle David took of the USS Arizona and the USS Yorktown as they passed through the Panama Canal on their way to the Pacific Fleet. The Arizone has all it’s shade canvas up over the turrets and decking, and a full array of flagging is visible. Impressive sight.
