What do you OWN that was from WWI, WWII, Korea, VietNam or any point in between?

If you could email me a picture or post one here, I’d be glad to translate it for you.

My father’s Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense and Bronze Star. Also have a Zippo lighter with his nickname engraved on one side, full name on the top, USS Guam on the front and a list of the garden spots of Dong Ha, Phu Bai and Khe Sanh on the other side, he was also in Hue city but that is not on the lighter.

I also have his Navy Corpsmen device as well as my mom’s Lt. bars.

I’ve got an Austrailian SMLE that my grandad traded for some American cigarettes.
A USMC K-Bar that was a great uncle’s who served in the PTO.
A Bayonette with scabbard from WWI
And a “Remove Before Flight” tag from a C-130.
That, like some of the others, is all I can mention without fear of OSI investigations!

My dad has, which will one day be mine, a silk, Rising Sun Flag, a white silk flag with a regular Japanese red roundel, and a pack of Japanese cigarettes, all from WWII.

I wouldn’t wan to smoke the cigs they are a bit frail and dry!

I have my dad’s dog tags from his service from the Korean War. Thankfully, he never went to Korea, and never saw action. He was stationed in Hawaii (poor guy!) at Hickam, and first worked as an aircraft mechanic, then switched to aircraft electrical when he realized the electrical guys weren’t covered in grease and oil at the end of the day.

I have a few artifacts that are too recent to mention here. I do have the 12th AF commanders tag that I took off his car, bracket and all. (3 stars) shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Oh yeah, the 354th fighter squadrons flag I took off their flagpole while they were watching a lightning storm. I have a few other things, nothing vintage though.

A USAF officers hat, a whole et of patches and pins from all eras including a SEAL team 5 patch. A bunch of empty M-16 shells. Also, its after Vietnam but I have an American uniform and an IDF uniform with web gear

Viet Nam Combat Verteran UH-1H.

I have my dad’s service book when he served on the U.S.S.San Franisco also his album from Germany when he was there.I had a Jap bayonet but it is gone along with the rifle that it was attached to.Matt-Alberta what you have is a jap bayonet made in 1907.The scaboard holder should have some loops on one side. This was made to loop through a belt.Digger

A swastika arm band that my uncle Jim got in france somewhere. I don’t think that I’ll ever use it in a model picture. A picture of a Korean hut that he took and didn’t realize that there was a Chinese soldier standing in the window holding a machine gun. This was not noticed until the film was developed.

The victoria cross is the only thing of significance that i’ve got in my possesion, My grandfather passed it down to me, after he was given it through the will of his best mate after he died.
Apart from that just a swiss made watch from ww1

Approximately 5,000 35mm slides I took in Viet Nam during the 3 years I was there and a 7.62mm hole in my leg from an AK-47 round. My ribbons and uniform acutraments.

WW-II

I have a leather WW II flight helmet minus the headphones and oxygen mask with box. Wife’s brother-in-law gave me his dad’s WW II A-2 flight jacket. Vietnam era SPH4 flight helmet with my original visor covers from Vietnam and later Army Reserve Med Unit. Two piece nomex flights suits from Nam and later. Pretty much the entire left pilots station from a UH-1 minus the floor. That includes the left front door with painted Sharks Teeth and instrument panel. A couple sets of tail rotor blades from the Huey and a nose avionics door with painted nose art replicated from Nam. Some of which I haul to our Unit Reunions.

Geez…what I have is pitiful in comparisson:
2 Tech Manuels on the M3 halftrack and 1 zippo that I think is Korean War era
The zippo has a brass eagle on one side and mother of pearl inlay in black enamel
on the other (it does say Korea in the mother of pearl inlay)

What I have is an old bayonet type knife minus what was probably a bakelite handle with the hilt engraved with the legend U. S. M5. The blade is roughly 8 inches long. I also have one of my father’s Airforce uniforms from an unknown date as he was inthe service from around 1948 to 1969. I also have some sea shells that appear to be cowrie shells from Kwajalein circa 1948. He was there during the Bikini bomb tests. Also have several books printed during that time. Fighting Fleets by Rimington , 1942. It came from a Pre-midshipmen,s scholl in Asbury Park, NJ and shows that at some time it was at the Naval Training School Fort Schuyler, Bronx, N.Y. I found a book at a yard sale that was printed in 1942. The author was Squadron Leader Harold H. Booth, RCAF. It is titled Book of Modern Warplanes and is primarily artwork by the author. I rescued a book from the local landfill some years ago titled Targets Attacked by the Eighth Airforce 17 August 1942 to 17 August 1943 . I also have a flight manual for the Hellcat.

I have a Colt .45 ACP and several (100+) different boat / squadron patches and various kit pieces from my Navy tour in VN. Also have federalized AK 47… and bayonet for Enfield/Springfield .30. My best piece is an “Original” Springfield Armory socket bayonet for most rifled muskets that Springfield made. This is stamped 1858.

I forgot to mention my father in laws collection of Japanese army Equipment from a Helmet to rifles and bayonets and a japanese map. ( He was a combat Marine Vet of WW2)They are in storage in Fla. and were willed to me. I hope to get them in the Spring. No Samuri stuff but a genuine Japanese Inf. flag that has battle damage and is bloodstained… neat
