Nice job. Sure looks like she’s seen better days.

Well done, looks great!

Continued work on the 1/72nd scale P-38. Primed and puttied, it needs a bit more sanding and then we’ll see about an aluminum base coat.

I removed the masking last night, and had to make some touch ups to a few areas, but pleased with the result.
Next up is to assemble the undercarriage.

I’ve been making some progress on the Camel, but the decals have given me fits. Each of the roundels requires three overlapping decals instead of a single decal and they don’t quite come out concentric. Now on to the wings.

Paint looks good on it

That’s looking sharp! Curious why they would do the roundels that way - perhaps cheaper to produce the decal sheet?

I’ve been wondering too, but don’t know why it would be cheaper. The tail fin decals are on the same sheet and they have red, white and blue together. I think they produced it this way just to torment me. :slightly_smiling_face:

Taking a dive and starting on the Revell space shuttle kit like I mentioned earlier.
Got the cockpit windows coated with Future and need to let that dry/cure awhile, then insert them from the “inside” of the shuttle fuselage before adding the cargo bay parts and the forward cargo bay bulkhead.
Got lots of puttying and sanding to do as there’s plenty of gaps, especially where the wings join the fuselage. But nothing too extreme.
I want to paint this bird similar to the Air Force shuttle from the movie Armageddon. According to sources, they were colored in a teal blue-gray. Pictures are below. If anybody knows a close match in the Vallejo Model Air Color line, then let me know.

That will be a cool build. For colors, maybe something from Russian, Ukrainian or US aggressors.

Got some patina painted/sanded in on the 41 Plymouth. Six colors showing through so far. I am learning how to paint on patina as I go, since this is my first attempt.

Ahoy PeterW. Remarkable. I’m following this with interest. Never seen anything quite like it.

My Japanese F-4 is the same way, larger white circles, with red on top.

Working on it right now.

I considered creating masks and painting it,

but I wasn’t sure I could be precise enough.

Thanks @Strongeagle. This is a challenge for me, its trial and error a bit, but I like the results so for. Check out my WIP build post in the Modeling Subjects-Cars category on the forum. I explain my process and issues with the build.

I only wish I could simulate rust like that. Photo shop that into a junkyard scene, and you’d swear it’s real. Thanks for sharing.

That looks very nice. The wood grain in particular.

I still need to finish up all the stenciling….
