What Did You do on Your Work Bench Today

Looks good! Is this going to be a full detail build or are you just adding a few details here and there!

Well time on the work bench has been limited due to life in general, however the Rover is coming along and is nearly done. Just some mirrors and decals remain. Not 100% happy with the outcome from lessons learned with the windows etc however for the first one in 40 years I will remain content

Looking good. I really enjoyed that kit - so many options.

Thanks @keavdog yes and quite challenging for a first one back in the game, all in all a pretty good experience. Next kit will be an aircraft of some type … maybe

You did a rock solid job on the paint and engine detailing. For an airplane - try a Tamiya P-51 or P-47. Brilliant kits. Or if you lean more towards commercial try a 1/200 Hasegawa airliner.

Thanks again @keavdog will keep an eye out for those kits, I think I have a P47 in the ever growing stash

I am actually building it for my old High School buddy as that is the car he had then (he doesn’t know about it). I am going to try to make it nice, but the limitations of the kit really keep me doing some stuff. I am going to make it nice and it will look good on the shelf, but it won’t be an exact representation, that it for sure.

Calling this done. My what if fictional conversion of a spare Revell 1/72 scale D-21 drone into an unmanned combat air vehicle.

Not much to this dinky little model. No markings or insignia on the D-21 as the real ones never had any. Two spare part missiles in the scratch built weapons bay. Tried to take some pics with the camera flash on and off to somehow show the blue-black paint color I used which is Vallejo # 71.115 Blue Grey. And they might not be readable, but put a few spare decals on the base such as Lockheed Martin and US Air Force, plus the famous Skunk Works logo. Gotta have the skunk! :skunk:

Lindberg’s 1/48 Winnie Mae is back. It’s still upside down, but I covered all that gray primer with Tamiya X-2 Gloss white. I had to paint it twice to get it right. It’s sitting on top of it’s 68 year old decals. They look OK, but to be safe, I ran them through the copier and printed a new set.

Ahoy WIR. What a great little project. Turned out looking real nice. Good to see something unusual. Good work.

I’ve got the undercarriage of the Model T finished - I’m glad to be done with those thin rods!

I have been away from the work bench for a while due to other priorities and just not feeling like working on this stuff. But I pushed through and am enjoying building again.
I finished my second 1914 German Infantry figure. 1/35 ICM kit. Figures are not my favorite subject, but I am happy how these turned out. Just lots of different colors and small details. I don’t know how you Napoleonic military figure guys do it.

Also, I started on a 1/48 KW F-51 kit by Tamiya. Thanks to this forum, I was motivated to add the seat belts (Tamiya tape) and the wires on the radios. I never did this before. So far, I am very happy with it.

Thanks everyone for the inspiration, especially for Butz who logged his P51 build. I copied his ideas.

It’s starting to look like a vehicle! On to the body and interior…

Nice work across the board all!

As summer has arrived like a bolt of lightning, I’m finding myself pulled into the wood shop a lot more than the hobby bench… a classic story. I feel a strange sense of guilt not posting updates on my myriad WIP threads here, but I’ll be back, and I’ll try to check in when I can find an hour or two. The most difficult thing I find is getting my brain to shift from whatever real-life thing has been demanding my attention back onto whatever kit is before me. But even sitting down at the bench and doing a little organizing is better than nothing.

Also, when I’m working in the wood shop, I try to find time to squeeze in hobby-bench improvement projects from time to time. Last year it was the “in progress tray rack” in my upper cabinet.

Right now I’m drawing up some simple pull-out drawers for inside the lower cabinets, which otherwise tend to just be filled with a jumble of stuff.

The grey boxes represent different Plano tackle boxes, which will house various spare parts, knife blades, scratch building detail parts, etc.

See y’all around… and keep posting updates so I can lurk!

Finally got around to fixing the color on the external tank. A slow process.

At least you’re working on stuff for the hobby room. Mine is a master bathroom redo and some windows, all of which do not relate to the hobby room.
BTW, simple yet very smart ideas you’re working on.
Steve

When you think you have nearly finished a subject, and you make a mistake … well today on the bench I changed the mirror set up now I have some more painting and patching to do !!! Learning a lot on this one.

That’s so funny - My last fix was to put the mirrors in the right place… not where the badges go (just below where your mirrors are now) lol. Looking really good.
