What Did You Complete in 2005? WARNING! 54 Pics! Enter with Care!

Well, now that 2005 is coming to an end, I thought that it would be neat to find out and post pics of asll the models I completed over the past year. It was actually more than I expected! Below are pics of the 54 models I finished in 2005.

First I’ll start out with the navy ships. They were only six, and two are not technically done due to no rigging, but the main construction, decaling and painting are finished so I wanted to include them.

Next are the aircraft. These are all in 172 scale, except the blimp:

And finally, to the Armor. Again, these are all in 1/72 scale:

That’s all the models I got built during 2005 as of December 1st. I hope you all enjoy the show!

Oh, and if these don’t show up for you, then you can go to this site here:

That is the folder that has all my 2005 builds.

That is absolutely amazing Duke!! [:O] but you know you have a whole month to go. I’m sure you could add another dozen to the list [;)]

Thanks! I’m glad you like them!

Maybe not a dozen more. I can add another half dozen maybe…[;)][8D]

You gotta be kidding me! I do about 4 a year, well, hats off to you and your collection.

hmm, this year, I’ve made an M1A1 and an M2A3. I’ve started a 1/72 ferdinand… got carried away… stripped the paint off of my ferrari… and got about 15% of my correction for my M36 done…DANG! lol

great models! how did you do all the camo on the 1/72???

Wow!

Some nice looking models there and they are in the right scale (mostly).

I have completed a total of 1 so far this year. Do have a few Review items I need to finish up and a couple others that are close. Will see what I end up with by the 31st.

Thanks Waikong! I hope you recognised the three MiGs I did for the Group Build that you and I participated in! Your four are also trop quality, so I wouldn’t worry. I’m glad you stopped in to see these.

Thanks Phil! Yeah, I love building in 1/72 scale. It’s got to be my favorite scale, and it also helps to maintain a scale consistency in my collection!

Hey Jin! Thank you for the compliment. I’m glad you stopped in. All my camo was hand painted on. I’m not skilled enough with an airbrush yet to try complicated patterns on some of that small armor.

Well done!! you’ve been very busy. I’m lucky if i would do 7-10 models in a year.[tup]

1/350 USS Fletcher class Destroyer

As a matter of fact, I did remember your 3 builds for the MIG GB. I was surprised you can finish 3 in the time that it took me to do one - and I was already stealling a much time to build that one as possible. Just didn’t think you can keep that rate up for the whole year!

I’ve recently just got back into armor modelling - my first one in 25 years - so now that I’m expanding my range, maybe I’ll increase my output.

One question though, where do you have room to put all those models?

Wow Duke, you’ve been busy!

Any details on the Blimp? Ive been looking for one to build.

As far as my year in review:

R/M 1:48 P-51 D

R/M 1:48 P-40 B

Hasegawa (IIRC) 1:72 JU-87

Testors 1:72 SBD Dauntless

What can I say? How 'bout-

“Thank you, Cable Internet!”

Very nice work. [:D][tup]

A6Efan, nice selection! That is a great Production run. I look forward to seeing some pics soon!

Lucien, I’m glad you stopped in. Yeah, I love my high-speed connection as well!

Yeah, that is my usual pace when I’m building models. The only thing that slows me down is being kept out of the hobby room. Just like you, I tend to steal as much time as I can to build.

Actually, I don’t anymore! I have one room of a two-bedroom condo set aside for my hobby room. It has floor-to-ceiling shelves on two walls holding everything. I recently took out two bookcases and purchased additional shelving brackets and wall mounts to increase my shelf space, so maybe soon I’ll be able to display more. Then again, building my stash would clear alot of space as well!

Thanks Adan! This is slightly more than I built the previous year, so I’m getting better!

The Blimp is the old Revell kit put out in the 1960’s I believe. The message is motorized to rotate and lights up like the real thing, but it is pretty load when it runs.It runs on four D-cell batteries which make it pretty heavy. That is also why the seams are so prevalent; I wouldn’t be able to chnage the batteries or bulbs if I sealed them! It also comes with a set of markers and some paper sheets, some that have pre-made messages to color in, and some that you use to create your own message on. It only took me a day to assemble, another to paint it and another to decal it when the paint dried. It is a very straightforward and easy kit to do.

The kit is no longer in production at this time but some may still be seen on E-bay or other auction sites. Be sure that all the motorized parts, motor, lights and wires, and the message sheets and markers are inluded when you look on those auction sites. I got mine at a Kit Collector’s Expo and Sale for only about 10 dollars, which is CHEAP, considering that the kit was fully intact, including spare message sheets and the markers to color them!

Good luck in your search! It is a really great kit to do and is well worth the time to build! It would be great to see Revell re-release this kit, but I don’t see it happening.

Yikes Duke. That a build list alright. I got back intot he hobby about last May an have just started #10. The 1st 9 are in the animation on the right of my sig.

You may have an interest in my much-less-than-serious GB “The Battle for More Shelving”. Badge in the left animation.[;)][:)]

I feel so inferior. All I finished was a 1/48 P38 and a 1/72 F84. Hopefully I can knock out one more ship before Dec 31st.

I’m curious what a couple of thos models are: the 3rd and 5th ship, and the 13th plane. What kit and vehicle are they?

Here’s pics of my completed builds for the year:

Thats right. NOT A SINGLE ONE FINISHED!! Close to being finished though are Monograms MiG 15bis in 1/48, RM Ford Tri-Motor in 1/77, Monograms P-51D, Tamiyas A6M2c in 1/48 and a Minicraft PA-18 Super Cub in 1/48. If I can get the time I should have the MiG done by the end of the year.

duke how do you do it

do you do it 2 or3 or 4 models at a time like an assembly line or 1 at a time?

great job nice stuff

Wow Mr. Maddog. [8D][wow][bow][bow][tup] I saw alot of the armor already in the armor forum but your other stuff is outstanding and prolific too. I like the Herc and the Beechcraft. Which Beechcraft kit is that? I’ve been looking for some decent civilian aircraft.

I had a pretty good year but it doesn’t compare with your armada!!! [:D] Here are my 2005 builds 15 complete with 2 more possible complete by end of year.

All 1/72 unless noted.
Halftrack
Nike w/Launcher (sratchbuilt)
1/400 Soviet Kilo Submarine

Leopard 2A6
1/144 Armored Valkyrie
T-34
Puma
T-54 and T-55

Horten
SU-85
Nearly complete Early Tiger I

Wing-Nut, welcome back to the hobby, I am glad you came back!. I hope my display helps give you a little extra motivation to stay with it. This hobby is worth it! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work soon. The ones in your sigtag look great!

Oh, and I’ll check out your Group Build too. I just put up several new shelves so now I have a bit more room…so far!

I-beam, That is a very respectable list! I remember a few of those, and also remember building some of the rest. The Leopard is the one from the Mad Leo Group Build that we both participated in isn’t it? You have done well.

Kevin, that pic of ‘nothing’ looks great! Nice detail and I love the weathering! Is that the Eduard photo etch on that? [;)][:o)]

Actually Kevin, I am pleased that you are working on some models. The inportant thing is that we have fun and enjoy our hobby. I am looking forward to seeing the ones you mentioned when they are finished. As good as you do, I know they will be incredible!

Glamdring, don’t feel inferior. I didn’t post all these to make anyone feel inferior or displeased with themselves or me. I am simply sharing my hobby and passing along to everyone the work I’ve done. I may have finished alot, but most modelers here finished much higher quality work than I do. The important thing is that you have fun doing what you’re doing, and build at your own pace to get the results that satisfy you. For all I know, the two you finished are far better in quality than any of mine!

Here are the names of the ones you don’t recognise:

Third ship: USS Blue Ridge Command vessel. 1/700 scale Trumpeter kit just recently released in September
Fifth ship: SS Glasgow Oil tanker. 1/400 scale Revell/Germany kit re-releaseed along with the C-3 Freighter Hawaiian Pilot.
Thirteenth plane: C-119 Boxcar. 1/72 scale Testor’s kit no longer in production, but still available second hand.

Thanks for the compliments DURR! I do kind of build in an assembly line type of way. I start with building as many partial assemblies as I can on the one model I’m building, then I’ll go to the next one and do the same thing while parts are drying on the first one. And it’s more like 7 to 10 models at a time. I have a system that seems to be working pretty well so far. I want to get more done since I have a large stash that needs to be built and I want to get them built.

No worries Duke, you, and everyone else[}:)][;)], are stuck with me.
