What basic colors should be on workbench

Hi all i am just starting to get back into the hobby, I have not been building since i was a teen so i have alot to learn. I am setting up a workbench and i want to find out what basic colors I should have on the workbench. I am going to mainly build nascar and older hotrods

Crazy J,

My suggestion would be to get a good selection of gloss colors. The basic primary colors (red, yellow, green, blue) are a good place to start, but make sure you have black, grey (light and dark) and silver. Get a few flat earth-tones (brown, black, grey, beige) as these are good for hoses, highlights, and interior items.

As you build more models, you’ll get more colors and develop a ‘flavour’ for what you like and don’t like. There are some nice metalic paints out there that look quite realistic. There are also some ‘clear’ paints (yellow, red, orange, etc) that are useful when painting signal lenses, etc.

i dont think you should build cars (no offence yall) i think that tanks are so much funner. you can weather ad figures, details, exc…

and as to juniormodeler giving his/her opinion about tanks being “funner” …

You can do to car s what juniormodeler says you can do to tanks. What makes building fun is building the subjects you enjoy, not what someone else enjoys. It is good to see what others are doing, and we can all learn from each other. That’s another part of what makes this hobby fun.

All my projects are muscle cars, because that is what intrests me. If i had an intrest in tanks then i would probably build tanks and hang out in the “Armour Forum” [:D]

Thanks mkish i will take your advice and start with thois colors. I figured i would build cars since i am married and have 4 kids i will never be able to aford a real hotrod so i will just have my hotrod models
