What are the smallest and largest models you have?

The smallest would be some 1/700 Trumpeter carrier planes that I’m going to use for a future aircraft carrier project. The largest airplanes would be either a 1/32 Tomcat or Phantom. My 1/96 Revell Constitution takes up a lot of space too.

Smallest I have are 1/350 aircraft for Trumpeter’s USS Nimitz. Largest is the 1/350 Trumpeter USS Nimitz.

Smallest? Probably my scratchbuilt Fa 330 in 1/72.

It’s been completed since then, but I’m not sure if I’ve taken any pictures.

My largest is a bit complicated. My largest COMPLETED model is my Revell 1/72 B-36 (which I’m going to scrap here shortly to help with an XB-19 scratchbuild).

My largest “in-progress” build (for the last few years, that is) is my 1/72 Spruce Goose.

If I have my way, though, I MIGHT try my hand at something larger. I’ve been looking at this a LOT lately, and remember- I only build in 1/72.

I’m not going to confirm or deny anything at this point, but… [}:)]

144th scale Academy F-4 in German markings for the smallest.

1/64th Lindberg B-17 Bomber for the largest wingspan.

1/48th Monogram SR-71 for length.

My smallest would be an aftermarket resin 1/72 german starter kart and a 1/72 Kubelwagen.

My largest would have to be my 1/32 scale F4J Pahantom II. Although my 1/48 B-17 is wider by far, the Phantom is just fantastic.

Smallest built is probably a Sweet 1/144 Macchi CR.400 - though if an individual Panzergrenadier from the Dragon 1/72 Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D w/ Panzergrenadiers counts (and with more parts than the Macchi, it probably should) that’s smaller.

Largest built is probably either a 1/72 AMT-ERTL XB-70, or an Airfix 1/72 Concorde.

In the stsh, but unbuilt, are a couple of Sweet 1/144 Grumman Wildcats, a Monogram 1/72 RB-36H and a Monogram 1/72 full stack Space Shuttle.

Cheers,

Chris.

Not to be off topic… But it kills me to hear you are going to scrap that B-36… I love the display with the gun bays open… Truly a rarerity- even in photos of the real thing.

Cool thread! There’s some interesting stuff here.

My smallest: 1/72 Platz Pitts biplane… roughly 1 1/4" long. Largest: 1/72 Heller DC-6, and a 1/87 Amati J-Class America’s Cup yacht, which will end up being about three feet tall from keel to masthead. All are unbuilt at this point.

Don’t feel TOO bad. The model itself is in pretty rough shape now, and the turrets, while extended, are completely wrong in nearly every respect. I have another kit in the stash that I plan on converting to the XB-36 prototype, and will most likely buy another so I can re-build a bomber version with the (accurate) turrets (accurately) extended.

The way I see it, using the parts to build another under-appreicated wonder (the XB-19) is worth the cost of tearing down a so-so build.

Well the biggest model i made was a P-38 Lightning. I cant remember the manufacturer. It went on to have 2x 45CC petrol Zenoahs in it,

or it could be my Hurricane,

Sorry couldnt resist. In the model world it is my Sweet Macchi in 1/144,

and the largest is my Revell JU-52/3 in 1/48,

I need another Tante Ju, perhaps with floats next time.

…Guy

Smalest is a carrier air wing in 1/700 f-4 and a-6s etc and the largest is a toss up with the Tamiya lancaster 1/48, Revell 1/48 JU-52, B-17 and B-24.

Now Guy, I did not know we were listing R/C so I have 3 of them that have over 6 ft wingspan

Steve

My largest is a tie between the 1/72 X/YB-35 and the 1/72 B-2. My smallest is the 1/48 Fa 330.

Cheers,
Alex

Smallest has to be an Acedemy 1/72 Kettenkrad.

Largest, probably Revell’s 1/72 He 177 Greif.

Having said that I do have an unbuilt 1/32 Stuka in the cupboard…

Karl

Smallest 1/48 250 Halftrack

Largest 1/350 USS New Jersy or Lexington it’s a tossup

Smallest - Academy 1/144 F-16C Falcon

Largest - hard to say out of Tamiya 1/48 Lancaster, Monogram 1/48 Catalina, B-17, B-24 and B-58, Monogram 1/72 B-52 (all built) or Monogram 1/48 B-29 (unbuilt), but also could be my current project, Tamiya 1/32 F-4J Phantom II.

My smallest consists of a collection of 1/144 scale aircraft which includes an A-10, F-15C, SR-71, YF-23 and an F-117! The largest is my Monogram Buff in 1/72 scale that halted when it came time to tack on the wings! I just couldn’t figure out where I’m going to put this one! I also have AMT’s XB-70 Valkerie which is also going to be large when built.

This afternoon, I put together a couple of Trumpeter 1/700 Supermarine Walrussses. When they’re painted up (along with the 1/600 Walrus from the Airfix 1/600 HMS Repulse I’m currently building) they’ll be the smallest models in my collection, by far!

Cheers,

Chris.

the largest kit I have would have to be my perfect grade wing zero custom.

As for smallest… I’d have to venture any of the 1/72nd figure kits I was given by my dad.

in the 1/72 “constant scale” part of my collection, the largest is an AP-2H, with a B-58 to come someday, the smallest is the Pitts Special, with a model of SWMBO as a pilot, and my first Husky

in “any plastic in the house”, the 1/700 OH-6 and some PT boats, largest is 1/540 Forrestal

I mostly do sci-fi and anime kits, so my smallest kits would be the 1:200 scale mecha from Macross. I got a bargain on a box of 40-some of the things and am holding off on building some of the rare ones, but have finished a Tomahawk from that bunch.

Biggest would be the 1:72 B-36. That will be a project for the day when I don’t have to worry about moving for a while and can get my skills and some references together to detail the bomb bay with a nuclear load.

You get as many kits as I’ve collected, there’s a lot of ones for “some day”, but it’s not like they’ll start to curdle or anything.[:D]
