Sort of which one is the Mona Lisa of kits or which one is the “one penny black magenta” of all models made in the already short history of model making?
I remember a Hawk kit going for +$2500 at ebay, but which ones are the rarest and pricey of all?
That’s a tough one. I can’t imagine even a collector paying $2500 for a kit. [:0]I don’t think the manufacturers pay more than that for some of their short run tooling! If there is a “Holy Grail” of modelling, it’s gonna be something old AND rare. Perhaps an Aurora kit that was never released before they shut down…? I know they had alot of stuff that never actually hit the market before they went boobs-up. Maybe a rare gunnery training model from one of the WW’s… I dunno, interesting question.
BTW: What kit was it that went for $2500? Someone’s wife is pissed![}:)]

$2500 for an old kit? P.T. Barnum was right, there is a sucker born every minute. I wouldn’t pay that much for the original Mona Lisa, but we all have our priorities!
A few years ago Revell/Monogram re-released a bunch of their old kits in the “old” boxes with the original copywright dates. The collectors went crazy because of the impact on values. Se la vi! rangerj
