I am new to airbrushing. Bought an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS.
Learning and getting a feel of it. Still struggling with the basics of airbrushing, thinning the paint, cleaning, etc. The airbrush looks good. Hope I will be able to master it.
I have a Paasche VL that I’ve had for 20-ish years. Picked up a Iwata CN a couple of years ago. Love them both.
I use the Paasche (siphon) for the larger models that require more paint, the Iwata (gravity) for most of my work as I don’t waste paint.
@biswasg
I have this same airbrush since 2014 and use it monthly. It’s an awesome tool with no issues. Experiment with proper paint thinning AND proper fluid flow that is different than thinning. ALSO experiment with different PSIs.
ALSO, I cannot over emphasize this enough - thoroughly clean after each use. DO NOT let the paint start drying in the brush. If u do, which I have done may times, you’ll have disassemble the entire airbrush to clean it well.
Once you see the excellent results from airbrushing you’ll become hooked!
Don’t worry - you WILL master it! Trust me, I thought I won’t but I did.
PRACTICE AND PATIENCE are your friends. LOL
@RealG
40 years …. WOW, SUPER impressive!!
Hey if it works, why stop using it? ![]()
But going on for 45 years now, it is looking a little beat up. I was considering sending it back to the factory for “refurbishment”, but they would probably send me a new one. I’m not sure I want to part with the airbrush I have used for my entire adult life.
Ultrasonic cleaners are the best for cleaning airbrushes when you need to disassemble it. Break it down, put it in the cleaner, turn it on and have a snack.
New guy, I bought a Harder & Steenbeck Evo and a Gaahleri GHAD-39. Both are great. The H&S feels better in the hand and SEEMS more precise. Less trigger movement. The Gaahleri I seem to have less problems with. Probably self induced problems! I switch between the two.
I am glad I jumped right into Airbrushes, I use sooooo little paint that I am sure they will pay for themselves quickly!
@Racer192
Welcome to our community! And thanks for posting.
Glad you made the airbrush leap. Nothing better than a super even smooth paint coat.
I recently upgraded to the Gaahleri GTX-778 air compressor and it’s amazing. I also use 2 of their airbrushes - both the GHAC-98D, one fitted with a .38 and one with .5 needle. They have different size cups and levers to tell them apart.
The other 2 airbrushes are a ProconBoy PS-290 and a Badger Patriot 105 (which I’ll replace with another Gaahleri soon!)
I also purchased the Gaahleri manifold that I’m currently modifying to include a pressure gauge on each output.
New to airbrushing and am learning to use my brand new Iwata Eclipse HP-CS
I have a Tamiya HG single action airbrush. Its not fancy and not too expensive, but its easy to use and never clogs. Its tough to do anything too detailed, but ive managed to do some 3 color camoflauges with it without masking.
I use a 50 year old Badger 150 and a couple of 20 year old Pasche VL-1 airbrushes.
Paasche VL, double-action, siphon-fed. It’s a workhorse.
And an Iwata Neo.
I have 4 airbrushes. Mostly use the H&S. H gets used to bulk spraying (dullcote, primer, etc.) on occasion.
Paasche:
H, 35 years old. Don’t use it too much anymore. I keep it because it’s my first air brush, way easy to use!
Talon, great when it works. Leaks air a lot. Reached out to Paasche about the problems, but NO response from them.
Raptor, smaller cup than Talon but the same otherwise. Very good air brush. No issues. Use various needle sizes.
H&S Evolution 2024 CRplus. Best airbrush I’ve ever used. Use this exclusively. Very easy to clean. Like the interchangeable cups and needle sizes.
I spray mostly acrylics and gloss core/dullcote.
