wet sanding acrylics?

HEY,
Im just getting my airbrush, and i was wondering, if you can wet sand acrylics. I do plan on doing a little with acryl, and i was thinking that the water would just take the paint off of the body.

Once the acrylic paint has completely cured, water will not affect it.
