This is what been plagueing me. Had my Bi-yearly Eye exam. Cataracts are unchanged from last exam. That’s Good. They are just barely noticeable. And they haven’t progressed any more. But My eyes have gotten sensitised to dust in the air. Any kind of dust. Even that in store environments!
Glasses were off. So I got adjusted to 20-25 which the doctor says is good for my age( 78). I told him I did a lot of close-work so we worked with the vision thingy till I was satisfied. He Was quite surprised on the Color Acuity test. 98.8% true! That surprised him in that it seems when Cataracts start cooking some Color Acuity is affected!
I was a little off on the reds and oranges. Soo. I will continue till I cannot see the boxes!
Try this. I have cataracs too that are starting to create a hazy condition and limits my driving at night. On top of that the layers of my corneas fill with water and throw my perscription out of wack and I have to use drops of what is bacically salt water to try and dry out some of the excess water in my eyes.
It makes building more of a problem and sometimes I think dry eyes would be better than this.
Trust me I have age related dry eye issues and you don’t want that either.
Wake up in the morning and my eyelids are stuck together and my eyes are always irritated and feel like there is sand in them all day long which also make my eyes red all the time.
It’s very uncomfortable and most treatments are only temporary at best if they work at all.
I’ve found I need to wear a face shield when I dry sand or use a power saw on wood. I had been using googles occasionally for that, but the face shield is much nicer and does not affect my vision. I had bought a cheapie- package of two for seven bucks. But it has no tilt back- you either wear it or not.
I like it so well I will be checking out a tiltable one. I believe it will be a lot less expensive than a new air brush or dremel tool.
My mom had cataracts that brought her vision down to 20/400. She could only see up real close. It looked like her driving days were over.
She was 88 at the time and had the cataracts removed and replaced with the “VIVITY” lens. They are absolutely the very best. She was scared to death but anything was better than nothing. The time that the actual procedure took was about 15-20 minutes for each eye and done on separate days.
Bang!
Two/three days later she went back for an evaluation. Although she had symptoms of mild macular degeneration her eyesight was back to 20/20 (at medium to far) and in less than 45 days no further checkups (other than yearly visits) were needed. The only downside was that she still had to use 2.25 readers for close up reading.
