Today a buddy of mine and I headed over to the West Houston Airshow and I managed some good pictures. I thought I’d share.

A couple of Grasshoppers

A Trojan

I believe this is a Lodestar

Fairchild BT-19

Stearman

Valiant (I think this is what this airplane is). Got these shots as it was taxiing and just after take-off.

I don’t know what this is but it looks like the plane that John Belushi shot down in 1941

AT-6 Most of these are as this bird comes in for a landing

The world’s last flyable Helldiver (although it didn’t fly today [BH])

And the wow entry to today’s airshow, an F6F Hellcat (well, wow at least for me). Got shots as it was taxiing and taking off

All in all this was a nice little airshow. It did take away from my modeling plans for today, but oh well …

Many thanks for some great pics, Aggieman! The orange/white twin engine bird is a Beechcraft 18, in one of it’s many military incarnations, probably A C-45. Your photo skills are superb!

Awesome shots, Aggieman! I like the Helldiver and Hellcat shots. I haven’t been to an airshow in years (since the 100 Years of Flight show in Dayton OH a few years back), and now I’m itching to get to one. Thunder Over Michigan, The Mustang Gathering (Columbus, OH) and the Dayton Air Show are always on my “to do” list.

Outstanding photos! I’m sorry I missed it. I live about an hour away. My B.I.L. got to fly in the AT-6 today. He is still on cloud 9. Are you going to the airshow down in Galveston on Apr 28-29? I’ll be there cuz there’s going to be a SuperHornet demo along with a B-2 B-52 fly over, along with a lot of other cool demos.Here’s a contest to win a flight in a warbird. Must enter by tomorrow,

Dang! No, I won’t be able to make the Lone Star Flight Museum show next weekend. Part of the duties of being a parent is going to other kids’ birthday parties, so that’s where I’ll be next weekend. Oh well. Would love to win a flight in a warbird…

Hi Aggieman, wanted to let you know that I sent you a couple of emails ref the hobby shop on Richmond that closed down. As for the air show, I was there and had a great time. I spoke with some of the old flyers, P51 and P47 pilot, P38 pilot (he was a lot of fun and great to talk with) and a gunner/radioman on a B24. He had lots of stuff to show. It is always a great place to go. Think since I’m retired and old (62) I might take one flight next year on one of those planes. You take care and maybe we can meet sometime. About the kids, don’t worry I take care of a 3 year old grandson, lots of fun. The pics are great.
