Welcome to our new References Forum!

A number of Forum members requested a special place to share info about reference data (websites, books, videos, whatever) about modeling subjects. Let’s give it a try. For now, we’re not going to segregate the discussion by aircraft, armor, figures, etc. That may come later. So…

What’s the most useful reference you’ve used lately?

Thank you, thank you, thank you Lawrence.
I have spend so much time to get some support for this. Its good to see it happen, and thank you to all those who showed their support in the Suggestions and feedback forum.

My most useful reference lately !! This forum [:D]
I have recieved meny great reference links in the time that I have been a member here, and thanks to everyone for that.
I hope it will be easier to share our knowledge now that we have this forum.

for those who took the time to direct focus to get this thing going, congrats a job well done. i will go through my links and provide those that i feel will be useful to others. although my list is not as extensive as that of others i will be happy to begin to populate this fantastic resource.

First off, thank you Lawrence[bow][bow]

Second, congratulations monrad, your patience paid off[^]

Now the most recent reference I had a chance to use was aircraft three views. I’m buildiing a model of the FJ-Fury that has no front view so I needed to know what the wing angles were as they don’t fit that well. I got my answer by asking where I coud get it and somone directed me to that web site[8D]

From the support this idea received it will soon be full of good information[:D]

Richard

Thanks to EVERYONE who made it happen, and especially to FSM for providing this forum in the first place! [tup]

I have to agree. This forum is a gathering place for a huge amount of information and knowledge.

But … since you asked:
http://www.cybermodeler.com/index.shtml (Aircraft information)
http://aircraftwalkaround.hobbyvista.com/allawalksites.htm (aircraft walkarounds)
http://gra.midco.net/mlgould/ (aircraft instrument panels)
http://futurshox.net/section.php3?gname=Cockpits (aircraft cockpits)
http://www.clubhyper.com/referenc.htm (aircraft reference)

Ah, a reference forum. Trully, one of the most useful things that could have been added. This place just gets better and better. Way to go FSM! [:)]

This is a great addition to the best forum on the internet! Thanks to monrad, Lawrence and the FSM staff!

FINALLY, A HOME! Thank you to all…Thanks for your persistence Monrad.

Thanks for monrad, the persistant, and FSM and their benevolence.

Thanks for this forum. I’m sure it will become mine and many others fav ref.

Thank you guys at FSM for putting one in, we needed it!

Lawrence, it looks like you made some people happy today. [:)]

A suggestion I’ll toss out there…

Right now there isn’t any segragation by aircraft, armor, etc. What does everyone think about including something in the subject/title about the subject and/or type?

Examples
[ARMOR] Tiger Links
[AIRCRAFT] F-105G reference pics

Ideally it would be great to provide a way to identify resources by subject (Armor, Aircraft, etc.) and type of resource (book, link, photo). I have a couple of ideas, however our project schedules are pretty well booked solid for the next couple of months and then some. So in the meantime maybe this would help or maybe not. I haven’t been keeping up so I might be missing the point of the reference forum.

Don’t forget there is also a links section on the website. While it’s not a vast exhaustive list of links, some may find it useful.

I think David has a great idea so we don’t have to search through a ton of posts to find what is important to us.

Let’s work with him to make this ahppen.

Richard

Thankk you Monrad for your persistance, and thank you Richard for being out there supporting it!!! [bow][bow] And now, I will go add my 2 cents!!! Oh, and of course thank you to the FSM staff for their adding it!!![;)]

I like David’s (He lives!!!) idea. Makes for a more organized forum… but what headers will we use (for the sake of uniformity)?

This is great!

Here’s a list of some of my favs (outside of hitting blackwolf up for some pics in his collection) [:D]:

Lawrence - As mentioned bravo on working with the peeps in the forum to make this available. Half the fun of this hobby is in the discovery of learning. I can see it becoming quite an exchange of knowledge. Hmmm… Knowledge Exchange… oops cannot use that… Accenture already has that term reserved for their in-house knowledge management system. Anyway, not sure if this could be broken up any further , but I see it becoming primarily posts of requests and posts of references. Maybe an RFI (Request For Information) sub-section and a Bookshelf sub-section? Just a thought. Perhaps recomended practices, (i.e., for RFI’s preceed the post heading with the term RFI, like this RFI: Pictures of the USAAF Martin XA-22).

Thanks, Lawrence!
I’m sure this will be another great addition to the site.

Thanks for the forum guys! And I think prefixing posts with the relevant subject matter is a good idea too

G’day Folk’s,

I’d like to join in, only to happy to share on this forum, I’m from that Little Island down south called OZ.

Rob.

Thanks Lawrence and monrad[bow]. this forum is going to be a big help. i have already gotten a lot of info from referance links provided by forum members and it will help not having to search through all the different forums to get info on different subjects. Thanks once again guys!!!
