I got off work early Friday and started this Tamiya 1/35th 7.5cm PAK40/L46 Anti-Tank gun. Since it’s a “shelf piece” and not in a diorama, there’s almost no weathering. Comments or criticism welcome.

A nice build, Ray, and even though it’s not in a diorama, it could easily improve by the application of a wash of raw umber. That would give it some easy but effective scale detailing in places like the wheel hubs and in emphasizing the crevices and lines. It’s not really a “weathering” thing; just a technique to replicate the scale effect of shadows on a 1:35 model in a 1:1 world. A slight bit of drybrushing would also then bring out some highlights. I think it would really improve the look. [:)]

I like this kit even though it is very old!! Yours looks pretty good. I agree with doog that a wash with some drybrushing afterwards would really make some of the details pop nicely!!

You’re absolutely right! I was in a hurry to git 'r done. When the paint has cured for a week or so I will
put a wash on it. I’ve still got to assemble and paint the three crew members that came with the kit, too!

What did you use for the worn paint/metal color? Pencil? Just wondering because I like the look and might want to borrow your mojo…

I Like it…very nice for a weekend build. Are the tire rubber? If not you did a great job in making them appear that way.
I second that. The paint is so monochromatic that the details get lost. A wash with a bit of drybrushing can really pop it! Maybe some mud on the wheels, or dust and dirt. Looks pretty good for a quick build though!
