Weekend Madness GB 2022

Let’s give this a shot for Buddy.

From the big fluffball in 2020:

“I know it’s WAY too early for Christmas music, but it’s that time of year once again. What time is that you ask. Why simply, it’s WEEKEND MADNESS GB time of course! What is that you ask? Why it’s simply the rootenest, rootenest group build to ever grace these webpages. Legends will be made, songs of victory will be sung, and mortals will become modelling gods. Well golly, what do I have to do, you ask. Well, I’m glad you asked. First I want you to pick a model, any model will do. Then, I want your time. Oh great, you say. But wait, I say, I don’t want six months or a year I want 48 hours. Wait a minute you say, 48 hours? Yep, only 48 hours. That’s the goal, 48 hours from start to finish. But, you start to sputter. No buts says I, if I can do it, you can do it. Many have sung songs of victory, and many have sung mournful dirges of defeat. Will you join this quest?”

The start date is November 24. But that’s Thanksgiving day you say. It’s also the start of a four day weekend for us here in the States, and for the rest of the world it’s as good a day as any to start. Besides, it’s tradition. This build normally peters out around New Years.

The Rules.

  1. Pick a kit. Normally I’d recommend a simple kit, something you can finish in the allotted time. However, there are some that like to burn the thing to the ground and pick the latest million piece wonder. However, most of us like to watch the world burn as well and will gladly pull up a chair, pop some popcorn, and watch your attempt and root you on to either a spectacular victory or a spectacular defeat.

  2. ALL kits will be unstarted. Photographic proof is required. A pic of the unstarted kit with either a working clock in the background or a timestamp is required. Crossovers are allowed.

  3. You have 48 hours, that’s it. You start at 8:00pm on Friday, you have until 8:00pm on Sunday to finish. I realize that some don’t get the traditional weekend off, so pick a 48 hour window and go for it.

  4. Take pics. It gives the rest of us something to look at while we’re waiting for our masterpieces to dry.

  5. HAVE FUN! This is not the build for building your latest contest entry, although some have gone on to win, place, or show at their local contest. This is for blowing out the cobwebs and finishing something.

  6. Did I mention you only have 48 hours?

  7. Did I mention have fun?

I think we’ve covered every genre in this build, so all are welcome. If I’ve forgotten something slap me upside the back of the head and remind me. If you have any questions, please ask. To Infinity, and beyond!"

Thanks for hosting the group build again Bill! I’m looking forward to it! Since I was the one who asked you know I have to join! Sign me up for a 1/35 armor kit, exact kit TBD… I’ve got a few likely candidates in the stash!

I’m in of course. I usually give it two or three entries/attempts. Not sure what I’m gonna start with but I will figure it out in a few days.

I’m gonna throw my hat in here with Ban-dai’s 1/12 Mandolorian kit. Been wanting to build that one, just needed a kick start to do it.

BK

Yes, thank you Bill-I’m in with the AFV Club Berlin Wall kit but I hope to get a couple built this year.

Welcome bob! I don’t know that kit. Some years ago I scratch built the Checkpoint Charlie guard house and started a diorama, but lost interest in the project.

OK Bill, here’s my official entry, haven’t even taken the plastic off. Should have relatively low parts count and Tamiya’s great engineering:

I look forward to seeing that model built.

Should be an easy paint job!
