I love this game and play it a lot and am wondering about something. See how they painted the skin with the worn out edges and corners that show bare metal underneath? It looks pretty cool. How would you approach this problem with a model? Just paint and weather as usual, then dry-brush corners and edges with gunmetal to create a similar effect?

I play too but on the EU servers. To get the same effect I agree I’d paint as normal but before dry brushing with gun metal I’d dry brush with black then the gun metal it will add a bit more depth and look a bit closer to the game

Hello!
Doing this with sponge as opposed to dry brushing might give nice results, too! And take dark grey instead of black for better effect. Good luck with that paint scheme and have a nice day

Personally, I"d mask that and spray metallic gray out of my airbrush. That’s a little more than drybrushing would give you, buy you should try just drybrushing it and see how it looks. They did that to provide a shape-line to define the vehicle’s turret withing that camo pattern.
I did the same thing by undercoating in dark brown and then deliberately leaving the edges brown when painting. It helped define the vehicle’s shape much better.
easy-- just dab edges with cotton dipped into thinned german grey. Gives you more control than brush or airbrush ever will!!
Hope i helped…
May I suggest getting a 3M green scouring pad, available in your grocer’s cleaning section? It’s more rigid vs the pliable cotton. Alternatively, sponge packing material – it works well too.
One note of caution to MonsterZero: while the look may be artistically pleasing, this affect is commonly overdone. May I suggest you spend some time looking at some actual color photos of AFVs (not in museums) in the field or some construction equipment? Paint just doesn’t wear off like that in general in the real world.
