Weathering a 1/72 Corsair

hey! im new to the forum and relatively new to the hobby. im 14 and jobless and strapped for cash. anyway, that said, i need some help weathering a 1/72 Corsair. im looking for tips on getting chipped and worn look that always looks great on models(when done right of course[:D]). any help given would be greatly appreciated!! thanks![C):-)]

Hey southern dragon, the cheapest way to do it that I can think of is to get a silver pencil and “tap” it onto the finished model around panel lines, etc. until you get the look you want. Here’s a video that shows it.

Another way to do it is to use salt. Here is a webpage showing how to do this.

And if you didn’t have the site, http://www.swannysmodels.com/ has an amazing tools and tips section.

hey texreb! thanks! ill have to dig up a silver pencil though[xx(]

very interesting! ill try that! thanks and again, i will post pics.[C):-)]

Anytime, I’ll be looking forward to seeing how your corsair turns out.

another quick question texreb: what is sprue?[C):-)]

The sprue is the plastic that is keeping the parts together. The thing you cut the parts off of before you glue them together.

thanks! that had me a little confused[%-)]. [C):-)]
