Weak CSC?????

I have been using CSC for about 2 weeks now, put about 4 car bodies in it… on the 5th body i had it soaking for about 48 hours and the paint hardley bubbled!!! when i fist used it , 8 hours and the paint was falling off???

Did anyone else expience this???

I guess i have to change the CSC more often!!!

Wasn’t black paint on that one by any chance was it?

are you covering your container when you aren’t using it? Some times the chemical will become weak when left uncovered - also what type of paint were you trying to remove (Floquil on bare plastic???), cause some of them won’t lift - I use automotive brake fluid when have to strip - don’t really like to though

What is CSC?

CSC is Castrol Super Clean…A product manufactured by Castrol Petroleum company…Its a product readily available here in the US is really in-expensive and comes in a huge jug. While I have yet to use it for the modeling hobby…I do know that a cap full or 2 in a FULL LOAD of clothes in the washer will help remove grease and oils of all types including greasy food stains from that pepperoni that slid off the pizza and onto your shirt. However…dont use with delicate fabrics and dont use to much or else it will eat at the fibers of your clothes and soon youll have holes. I usually only use this as an addition to the wash after working on the 1:1 cars or other messy tasks…

Though now that I know it works as a great paint/chrome remover next time I run out of Chameleon(a hobby paint stripper which runs about 12-$16USD for 16 fl oz) I will convert to CSC.

good job chris , and i’m glad i convinced you to convert… i changed the CSC and the paint came right of in 20 minutes…

hey chris , your almost at 500!!!

seems that the modeler will use everything imaginable to do the job…thanks for the info

I have used CSC quite a few times and after a few have been in the bath, it does tend to weaken.

How does it compare to oven cleaner or brake fluid?
