HELLO EVERYONE! Greetings again from CT. & Niccolai46. First of all I would like to thank all of the people who sent in feedback regarding the painting techniques on the prop to my Folkker DR.1.Haven’t tried anything yet due to another little problem that I actually expected to happen.Everything I read advised me not to use a diaphragm compressor but I got one very cheap on ebay, and figured this woul be good enough to get me started. With that being said I (of coarse) am having all the obvious problems! WATER IN THE LINE!!! I have a water trap on the regulator but being a diaphragm unit It runs constantly creating allot of moisture due to heat. So I’m looking to maybe put in an inline trap. The thing is I’m not so sure about splicing into a braided hose! My question is…CAN I DO IT?..Appreciate ant feedback! THANX!
Niccolai46, there are two ways to solve the problem without splicing the line (which I wouldn’t do). First you can use a smaller trap which connects between the airbrush and the line you have, search for mini airbrush air moisture traps. Second was would be to get a normal trap but get a second line and use the trap between the two lines, this would give an advantage of giving you more air held in the line which would improve the flow to the airbrush.

I don’t know which compressor/airbrush you have but I don’t think you need to splice into the braided hose. There are inline traps that connect directly to the hose and airbrush. You might need an airbrush adapter depending on which airbrush you have. Here’s a LINK to the Iwata one on Amazon. Harbor Freight also sells a similar one that works as well.
