Is there anything special to putting washes around raised panel lines? You would have two lines of wash around the line instead of one in a crevice.
This style of detail molding is best approached a different way. Paint the raised lines black followed with a protective clear coat. After completely dry, apply the main colour(s). Again, after properly cured, use a fine grade sand paper on the raised line to expose the black paint.

I had been using a wash, and it didn’t come out as well as I would have liked.
