Was anyone here taking pics of models at BuffCon on sunday?

I saw some people taking pics when I was there on sunday April 4, and I couldn’t catch up with any of them.

I couldn’t seem to manage to take any decent pictures of my models and was wondering if these persons would kindly e-mail me a copy or something.

I’ll keep checking here. Thanks a whole bunch.

Couldn’t get away from my table too much and never really made it into the showroom, so I didn’t get any shots myself. [:(!] But I’ll ask around and see. What did you have there?

Fade to Black…

1/48 Scale P-61 Black Widow. What table???

Hey thanks Wolf, Did you have anything??? Any favourites, I see you’re a Warhawk/Tomahawk fan too…

Hey Storm,
I was in the area judging and saw one of my friends snaping away. Let me ask him what he has of your Widow.
BTW it was nicely done. Its fun competeing right?? So how many gray hairs do yaw have now after the show?? LOL[:p]
Let me see what I can find.
Flaps up, Mike

Thanks, WOW!!! I still can’t get this stupid grin off my face. I’m hooked period.[:D][:D]
Now that I learned how it worked, I’m going to look at the displays before the judging. I didn’t see anywhere enough of the show. TY again.

Hey Storm,
My bud is checkin his pix!!! I know what you mean about the grin. I was I mean I am still kinda grining after the show.
My Me 262 and my Dewotine by Tamiya did well. Heck I even placed w/ my Kubelwagan. And to think me stepping into the dark side[:p][;)]!! Opps did I say that!!(Just joking my armor friends)
I forget what did you place if you dont mind me asking?? I actually judged your a/c category come to think of it. Again good job my friend.
Flaps up, Mike

I took first place (there’s that stupid little grin again.) I still can’t believe it. Are you the Mike who helped my wife and me figure out where everything went?[:D]
By RoCon I should be able to actually walk, so I’m hoping it’ll be more fun, but I can’t actually remember when I’d had such a great day (pretty sad huh!)
Does IPMS Niagra Frontier have it’s own web page? I really wanted to see more of the other models.

Thanks again!

Trooper,

We did have a website but it’s down at the moment with a new one being built. Once I get my rear in gear I’ll have some photos up on my site; not from this year’s show but just some builds by some of our guys and from other shows. Can’t seem to find the time to work on the thing though…

Anyhoo, here’s a sampling of some work done by some fellas in the club. Some of these images kinda suck but here goes…

Goon’s Jug
Goon’s Racin’ Stang
Goon’s F-86
Mr ASJ’s Splinterstang
Mr ASJ’s Silverstang
Mr ASJ’s A-4 Fresco

Hey Trooper,
Yaw know, I am not sure now. Did the person have a mastache and if so, it was not me then. Sad to say[:(][;)]!! I was the one w/ the all black 101st AB shirt.
I’m glad to hear that you had a great time!! Thats what it is all about my friend!!
If you dont mind me asking, where abouts are you from? Looking forward to seeing you at RoCon!!

Yo Joe,
I hope that you did not hurt yourself when you hit the floor[:p][;)]. I’m glad that you liked the pix.

[:D][:D] Hi all!

Hey Butz, that beautiful ME 262 was one of the few models that I really got a good look at. All I can say is wow, that sure is a nice looking plane.

I’m dying to try a “natural” metal finish but it’s a little intimidating (silver paint and I have a long, bad history, starting with my mom’s tablecloth when I was 7 or 8.) Do you do a base coat, then mask off some of the panels, then spray again to get that perfect “imperfect” look?

Me, huh. I’m from Oklahoma, then Illinois, then a few places in Ohio, followed by a decade in Colorado and finally (for now) in Rochester, on the shore of beautiful lake Ontario.[8][:D]

Just started the first of the kits I bought at the show. (Spent WAY TOO MUCH money[}:)][}:)]) Can’t wait to see the next one.

Is NorEastCon held in Buffalo every year? If so when, if not, where?

Wal-Mart has really cheap portraits, I’m wondering if I took some of my models in…[:D]

Talk to y’all later.

Hey Butz, is that a B-26 Marauder?

Hey Storm,
Thank you VERY much for the nice words about my 262!![:p][:I]
Well what I do, I usually will spray my a/c with a black or "scale black(Polly Scale) as my base coat/ primer coat. This helps me pick out any seams or flaws that I missed the first time around.
At least for me, using a dark colour as a base coat also helps me improve on the “natural shadows”/ and it also gives the a/c a natural used look.
When it comes to actually putting on the colour itself I tend to thin the paint down a lil more so I can build up the colour. Again this also helps aid the base coat w/ the natural shadowing.
For natural metal finishes, I did like I mentioned above but I used Model Masters buffable Aluminum so there was no need to thin down. Just put on light coats. Again by doing this it helps give it that perfect “imperfect” look as you said. I am sure somebody out there will disagree to what I have said but O well. Thats the way I prefer to model. You can look at it as an artistic touch.
Anywho, what I tell most people is to practice and find your own creative way of representing your builds. I hope this helps you out my friend.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me at Falcon174th@aol.com or Falcon42177@yahoo.com. I am more than happy to assist you.
I’m glad you like my lil icon pix. The picture is actually of a A-20 Havack that my Uncle took while he was stationed in New Guinea cia around 1944.

In a perfect world, yes! [;)]

But this ain’t a perfect world…

Anyhoo, Noreastcon is on the other end of the state this year, in Schoharie. (Albany area) Here’s a link to theNoreastcon 2004 Home Page.

I believe next year the show will be in Rochester, and that the following year is already taken as well, but I’m not sure where it’s going to be. I’m pretty certain that we’re going to do another Regional, just a matter of when…

Fade to Black…

Hey Thanks guys,
Are you Canadian? I can’t remember if the photographer I saw had a moustache or not, he was the guy with a tiny little tri-pod mounted to his camera. I thought that the tri-pod was so cool that I didn’t even see his face.[][] It looked like a digital camera though.

What’cha all building? I’m doing a P-12E without any directions for my wife, and I’m thinking of using the gift certificate I won at the show to chrome the props and spinners on a P-38 or something. Well, I was up until 0300 again building and trying to mask off enough that I can spray outside tomorrow.

G’night all.[:D]

Hey Storm,
I’m from good ol NY, actually Niagara Falls to be exact!! Ya know " Honeymoon Capital", “Factory Town USA” ect ect ect[:p][;)].
Na I did not have my camera w/ me at the time. Actually I am not sure who that guy was??
Right now I’m going to continue working on my P-47 Razorback by Tamiya that I put on the back burner a few months ago.
Its going to be in the markings of an a/c that a friend of the family flew in WWII. LtCol Richard “Dick” Hewitt 78th FG, 82nd FS. Actually he too grew up in NY. He lived in the next town over from me.
Cool I’d like to see your P-12E when it is all done. So does your wife know that you are building it for her?? So what scale is the P-38??
Talk to ya later!! Happy Easter[;)]
Flaps up, Mike

I actually ended up with 2 P-38s 1 in 1/48 and the other in 1/72. Thats part of the reason I spent too much. Had to put the Bismarck on the back burner until I can afford a photo etch set or two. Went out of town for Easter, hope everyone had a safe and happy day. The easter bunny brought me paint and some other goodies. Almost done with the P-12, I painted the fuselage “Black Blue Pearl” and the plane came out more purple than anything else, but the finish was so perfect that I’m just going to dress the plane up a little to limit the purple. She knows I’m building it, and except for the fuselage colour she likes it. Slightly modified the aircraft so it is now a civilian racing plane.

Talk to y’all later.

I.
