Need helf finding a C5A Galaxy kit, I think Revell made one, in 1/144 scale, but not sure.

Revell’s Galaxy was a reissue of Otaki’s kit from the 70s. revell reissued it in the 80s.
There has been a persistant rumour that the moulds for it were destroyed or lost during transport back to Otaki after Revell was done with them.
I have no idea how true that is, but given that the kit hasn’t seen a reissuing since Revell did so in the 80s and that both the Revell and Otaki editions can fetch some ridiculously high prices when they due surface; the rumor could well be true.

Testors also reboxed the kit. Give Ebay a shot, but expect to pay around $150 for one. A word of caution, though: Make sure you are happy with your modeling skills, because once your skills improve, you will want to purchase another C-5 kit and do a better job. This is what happened to me. I purchased my first C-5 on ebay when I had very minimal skills. I built the kit and didn’t even bother to eliminate the seams. Once I improved my skills, I had to buy another one!! It’s really a terrific kit, go look for one right now!! There’s three on ebay right now:
Check out Draw Decal for a nice set of decals for this kit. They only have decals for the current AMC Gray scheme, however. The kit decals may be unusable…
I’ve built a few of these kits in the past. If you get one you will have to remove the antennas on the top and make your own towel rack antennas as the kit’s are way too thick. You will also have to round out the landing gear because it was molded square. There are other things you can do but that’s about the minimum.

Man, can’t wait to see a C5 Galaxy in 1/32 or 1/24, even if I have to park the house cars in the driveway during the snowy winter. And me sleeping in them [whstl]
