im lucky to have about 5 modelling stores within 45 min of me adn one that is only 15 min away is very old and deals with mostly trains. they dont tend to buy nw kts becaue they cant sell most of their old ones, adn to my luck ive stumbled across a Revell 1/400 enterprise for $75 adn another ship, its all russian and he box is very 1960’s. do you think the enterprise is worht getting. i dont have a lot of cash adn i dont model ships but the enterprise just drew me in, and the russian one is probably worth more than 27$ since it looks so old…just say what your opinion would be (the russian ship isnt the enterrpise its a old wooden ship model, platic i think or balsa, dont know)

should i get them. i want to do the enterprise but i dont know how much the tamiya kit cost and i dont know if the revell one is good. do you know?
I can’t speak for the Russian ship, but I have built the Revell 1/400 Enterprise.
It’s half the price of the Tamiya Enterprise, easier to build (fewer parts) but lacks the detail. It also represents Enterprise circa 1960’s, while the Tamiya kit represents the late 1980’s, I believe. I’m not sure it’s worth $75; after all it is a reissue. Maybe you can talk them down on the price. Good luck!
note on teh russian ship i dont mean for a build, i mean it is actually from russia, all cyrillic on it and the box makes it look old so im gonna go there maybe take pics and then see if anyone wants it, buy it, resin acst it and sell it. soon im getting a ton of ship models from 40s and 50s for free so maybe if i resin cast them is anyone iterested.

With all due respect, you need to be very careful stating that you will recast something that is on the market. That’s a major copy right violation and you can be in a lot of legal hassle’s. You never know who visiting this board, it could be the distrib. ot the kits you want to re-cast.
In December 1988, I was selected by FSM magazine build the Monogram “Three Fighting Men” model for review and they liked it so much they selected it to be on the cover of the January 1989 issue. That really helped my business, so in late '89 I started simply building and selling these kits for people.
In 1990, I was contacted by a big law firm out of Washington DC, on behalf of the Vietnam Veterans Association Memorial Foundation and was threatened with a lawsuit for copyright infringment simply becasue I was building, painted and selling the model for profit. I had to get a lawyer to explain to the other lawfirm that I was allowed to build and sell any type of kit I paid for since the act of buying the kit was infact paying for the copyright release. You can do what you want with a single kit you buy, but you CANNOT make copies of it to give ot sell away.
My lawyer could not believe the greed of the VVA foundation or there greedover this issue.

Yeah, I know but that dit. camera I have seems to need 2-3 time as much light as normal, but I have not gotten around to taking the new photos, I’m too busy making models for clients and rebuild an old truck.
Go figure.
I just got the 1/400 USS Enterprise from : www.modelexpo.com/ema019 for 39.97, plus 6.99 S&H, not a bad deal! since regular price is somewhere in the 80’s
