Wang Dang Sweet Mus-'Tang

I thought it appropriate to ask this question, what with all of the Mustang hubbub currently going on. It is my understanding that the Mustang’s cockpit floors were indeed made of plywood, but I also heard that rather than being a “wood” color, this surface was painted with black paint, mixed with a sandy substance which produced an anti-slip surface, much like your kids’ skateboards. Anyone care to set the record straight? Thanx-

Some floors were left wood, some were painted black, some were painted drab green or interior green. Lots of variety - take your pick.

I only recently heard of the black anti-slip paint on Stangs cockpit floors & can’t recall seeing a model done in this way. But I agree with Swanny, from the few color or discernable B&W photos from the war, any of the options noted could be correct. I usually paint mine to represent wood, but have done a couple with interior green.
