I have decided that I need one of these but they do not seem to be available in the UK.Thus can anyone direct me to a suitable mail order or hobby shop that can send me one please. I trust they are not heavy/bulky and will not cost a mint to airmail.
I have heard that Roll Models is about the most reasonable place to find them. Haven’t got them myself, maybe I can get a set at the 2005 Nats.

I just recieved a set from Greatmodels.com yesterday - very nice set of tools. I can hardly wait to punch out some instrument dials!
I have both set (minature and sub-miniature). I use the miniature set mostly and it is real lifesaver at times! Even if they sit around most of the time they are indispesable when you need them.

Hey, guys…
If you’re good with your hands and with tools (and as a modeller, I HAVE to assume that you are), then have a look at my thread:

I’ve made one of these and I’ve been using it for years…it cost next to nothing - I already had all the materials at hand, and the drills I still use for their normal function - so I didn’t have to go out and buy a new set of drills just for the punch and die set.
Don’t get me wrong - I have nothing against the Waldron sets - they are really very well made and are of a very high quality - they’re just expensive, that’s all.
Good luck!
Greetings,
I have been thinking about adding the punch sets to my tool collection but was wondering which one to get. Anyone have suggestions if I build mostly 1/48 and occasional 1/32 ? Thanks for any tips.
Cbreeze - you want the miniature set for 1/48 and 1/32.
Mr. Waldron runs a one-man operation. He is something of a legend in scale modeling, and if you have ever seen his products, or more particularly, his cockpits in his FSM ads, you will know why. He was putting PE stuff out there before the rest of the industry had even heard of it. I saw his first PE parts, for the Spitfire, in 1983, and I am using those very parts in my Trumpeter 1/24 Spitfish for the throttle and some cockpit handles, and the placards for the oxygen regulator and other stuff.
His address is:
Waldron Model Products

Phone: (541-3226
I thought Hannant’s carried his products? If not, I’m pretty certain he ships to the UK. I use Waldron before just about any AM parts if it’s appropriate to the build. Unfortunately, it’s just he and his wife, and he keeps the quality up by keeping the product list small.

Many thanks all - the set seems to be about $48 which is OK but postage is 40% of the item cost apparently - which I feel is not on! Will have to consider alternative arrangements! Thanks however for the input.
I love my set. I stick Tamiya tape to a piece of acetate and punch out neat little circles. Peel off the tape and mask those round corners in canopy windows! Just connect the corners with strips of tape and fill in the middle- you’re good to go. 1001 uses!
Well shock me in the head! Learn something new every day!
I just got my sub-minature set from Roll-Models. Took about 7 work days (week and a half) plus they threw in their catalog. Next month I’m getting the minature set.
