Voroshilovets - wooden "house" on back

While the new Voroshilovets tractor comes with an elaborate bed covering, I’ve only seen that configuration on one of the photos I reviewed for the piece I’m working on. What I did find, I first saw in the Military Modeler article on Steve Zaloga’s B4 build, where pictures of the tractors with wooden upper parts - almost like a small dacha built on the rear. I’ve seen this on various pictures from at least two separate “Fronts” in the Red Army - so it doesn’t appear to be unique to any unit.

(A search via Google for Voroshilovets and open images will give you one from www.ww2incolor.com that show the construction well)

Any information about this particular modification to the tractor?

Thanks

Mike

While doing my build of the tractor I have come across several pictures with the canvas cover as provided by Trumpeter. Actually I have found it more rare to have the wooden “house” built over the rear. If you get the Tankograd book “Tyagatshi” it has a couple of pictures of both cargo bed covers in it, along with drawings and other pictures and information to help you in your build.
