VMX-22 MV-22B "Paint" job?

Looks like the F-22 isn’t the only airframe with a weird finish to it. Check out these pix of MV-22B 166480. What’s going on here and will this spread to other types?

That one just came of that show “overhaulin” Foose rules. Had no idea he did aircraft.

low observable paint. No.22 was the first, it’s 30lbs lighter than the original paint

I assume you mean LO in the EM spectrum because that shiny metallic finish doesn’t look very LO

Looks that would be a tough finish to replicate in scale, but I’d like to see it.

I’d agree with Trigger, that sheen/shine doesn’t strike me a visually “low observable” but maybe it has radar/laser absorbtion properties to go with the weight savings?

I don’t think any of the birds flying out of New River have that paint scheme. I recall most of those have the standard greys, but that could have changed.

Shiny…

Doesn’t strike me as LO… (keeping my fingers crossed that the Army doesn’t get any “bright” ideas)

Y’all have been stuck on Fulda-Gap Green for so long now, I don’t think they’ll do anything that radical anytime soon.
