This is an old MRC F4F kit. It had the kinda-sorta poorly-designed folding wings, and a terrible canopy! Regardless, I built it up and got everything together fairly well. I got a little creative and added a removable ventral fuel tank. I don't have many references, but neither that tank nor the underwing tanks were probably being used when VMFA-211 defended Wake Island.
Regardless, I ignored all the historical inconsistencies and proceeded to mark my little F4F as VMF-211 planes would've been marked in 1941 defending Wake from invasion. I didn't have any decals, so I 'cut-and-pasted' from several old decal-sheets to get all the markings.
Welcome to the forum!
Your posts present your text in a box with a horizontal scroll. Here is a tip from Tim Kidwell to avoid this (itâs from another thread where we saw this happening):
ââŚif you precede your post with four or more blank spaces, Discourse will create this weird textbox. To avoid your posts popping into the text box with the gray background, just begin typing your post right away. If you should find a post in a text box with gray background, go back and delete the spaces at the beginningâ
Understood. Donât practice correct grammar, do it âInturrwebbs-styelâ. I will not indent my paragraphs from now on! I couldnât figure that out either; I do appreciate the knowledge. Iâm not a huge âinternet forumâ goer, but Iâve never had that happen before.
No sweat, none of us old-timers knew about it, either. It was introduced when the new forum was built with Discourse, and every now and then, weâd post something and then ask ourselves, âWhat the heck?!â
Good work on the F4F. As to âcomputer-ezeâ donât sweat it. Just go with it as you get more familiar with posting, things will make sense -usually..maybe ![]()
