i told you and showed you some early pics. well here is the almost completed kit. it is an f4f from the detachment from ewa that was sent to wake prior to pearl harbor. the plane number is fictional but the overall was based upon photos taken at that time. sorry about the blurry pics but was so eager the camera wouldnt stay still.
hope you get the “picture”. thanks for letting me share.
Joe, lookin good. Can’t recall seeing pics of the fuselage stars in the unusual angled position, but assume your reference photos confirm that. An fairly inexpensive tripod can help immensely in getting sharper pictures. Thanks for sharing. Keep em coming.
oops thanks rjk. missed that when i put them on. blast put them on wrong and now cant get them off. been so eager to get them on, went too fast for my own good.
Bah hate it when that happens! I built a tamiya F4F and I had a wrinkle in 1 of the fuselage decals and couldnt get it out even with amply applied decal set( Sometimes it seems that we are destined to screw up.
Coming right along, fightinjoe, even with the “learning experience.” We all have our little glitches, that’s how we learn. As long as there’s room for improvement, there’s room for future enjoyment. I hope I never build a flawless model. If I ever do (not likely), it will be time to find another hobby that holds some challenges.
Keep up the good work, and increase your base of experience.
this one will go on the shelf until i can replace the stars. i should post it in the modeling mistakes thread. its the next day and still angry with myself for not taking the time needed to make sure they were placed right. oh well on to the next project as i dont have the decals to fix it yet. rjk glad you caught it. i wouldnt have noticed until much later. was planning to future it and then weather. would have been a bigger mess if i had done that and then found the problem.
