Visit your Podiatrist to open Revell VIIc limber holes.

I read a lot of comments in this forum and sorted thru my Dremel and dental bits, but wasn’t happy with any of the results on scrap plastic. What to do?[%-)] I suppose I should have posted this in the “Tool” forum, but I know a lot of modelers who read the “Ship” forum are working on the Revell VIIc 1/72-scale U-Boat.

While at my friendly podiatrist (foot doctor) I noticed the flexible shaft device he used to trim and smooth toenails. He gave me a spare bit when I told him about the task I had in mind (opening the limber holes on the VIIc).[^]

This is a bit that easily fits Dremel tools. It’s made of steel, has a roughly conical shape, and helical design. It only cuts away a very little bit at a time and removes plastic more finely than most other cutters or grinders I’ve tried.[:)]

I have no idea where these can be purchased (other than thru some kind of medical supply), but if you’re interested…just visit your friendly local podiatrist or chiropodist.

By the way–the flex shaft tool had foot speed-control and an attached vacuum. It would have made a great hobby tool![:D]

Great idea! Can you post a picture of the cutter?? Your description is good, but a picture is worth a thousand words!!
Thanks, Matt[:D]

is this the bit you’re talking about?

If I understand the tool you’re speaking of, we woodcarvers have used such cutters for smooth removal of wood in our foredom grinders for a long time…just go slow with whatever grinder you’re using…

It looks pretty much like the “tree radius end” bit pictured, but has slightly finer (shallower) cutting edges. Those tool bits you posted look really good!

Sorry[:(], I don’t have a way of posting a picture at this time, but check out samreichart’s posting for the link provided.

I get the idea, I think I have one in my box… Thanks, Matt
