Virgin Post - be gentle

I’ve been hanging around here a little while now and have learned a great deal and came across alot of nice people. I’ve been a little intimidated to put any work on public display there are so many skilled modelers here.

But, I think I’ve come along way so here goes:

Tamiya’s Sgt York - out of the box - It originally was my test model for a bunch of experiments in finishing but it came out pretty good so here it is

Be gentile - it is my first time

Sorry, I don’t know how to get the pictures larger

Never be afraid to post any work Build. That is why these forums are here. To help each other become the best modellers “we” can be. I know my limitations and I know my strengths, and I also want honest opinions when I post a pic of something I have done. Because without it, we can never work on where we are lacking…

On to the pics…They are a bit small so I am having trouble really seeing them…I have my screen on 1600x1200[:D] for gaming. But from what I can see, you have done a nice job. If you can get bigger pics up, that would be great. Oh the Sgt. York rocks…rereleased a few years ago by Tamiya, and hard to find right now.

Cheers

Rob

Build22 you have more guts than I do. I can’t seem to get a close up of your pics, so it’s a little hard for me to see all your work. From what I can see, it looks like you’ve done a great job. If possible, perhaps something a little bigger to show off the detail. [8D] Hope to see more.

“It is well that war is so terrible, lest we grow too fond of it.”-R.E.Lee

Looks great. I like the camo job too.

Moses is right, never be bashful about posting pics. Unlike some of the other forums, FSM is populated by very friendly and gregarious modelers who are always quick to help out or give info. Why if Moses were that bashful he would never have gotten rid of the anacondas on his models… (you did get rid of that Anaconda didn’t you Moses?)

Can’t wait to see more Build22.

Mike

Good work, Build22. The pics are a bit small though. Can’t see much of the details but the camo job looks very nice.

Hope you can resize your pics in the future. Keep it up.

Build,

Looks like a great build. Now we need larger pics…they are a bit small.

I must agree with what was said, never, never be intimidated to post your pics here!

Now, what’s this about Anacondas and Moses??? [:p]

The build looks pretty good from WAY BACK HEEERREEEE!
Sorry, but everybody else said that the “pics were a bit small.” I couldn’t stand to repeat it again. Maybe I should take it up with the Committee on Redundancy Committee.

Anyway, I like what you appear to have done with the kit. How did the build go? Were there any problems? The camouflage also looks pretty good. Are you going to wash and drybrush (or have you done it already and I’m just too blind to see)? I’ve always wanted to build this piece, but never got around to acquiring one. Keep up the good work!

And post “more bigger” pictures.

Build22 I think you did a darn good job there!! Here’s the pics full size so the others will quit their yappin bout em!! [:D]

All you did was link the thumbnail so that’s as big as it got. Next time open the pictue itself and it’ll be big [:D] AGain, great job on the build.

Eric

Build22,
Your Sgt. York looks great, did a fine job on the camo, the only thing that I see, that needs work are the tracks, maybe a little weathering and it would help if the track blocks were painted black.

Nice bit of work Build22 !!!

Never be afraid to post anything around here. We don’t bite (afraid we might loose our teeth if we did). It’s the only way to get a little critique and then improve.

I agree with Trevor about the tracks, could use with a little attention.

But otherwise it looks like a crisp, clean build with nicely done hard-edged camo.

Thanks for sharing your “virgin” post with us.

a very enteresting kit… i was thinking about buying one. seeing yours made me really want one! great job!

Nicely done Build 22[^]. I started to build this kit some years ago, but put it aside when the wash took off some of the paint. You have blended the hull joint line nicely - my kit was badly warped here, and it took a lot to remedy.

Thanks for sharing. Seeing yours finished, I think I might have to dig out mine, strip it and finish it now.

Happy Modelling

Peter

Thanks guys,

I appreciate the kind words of encouragement. This definetly is a supportive forum. I will continue to post progress on different kits. Now that I think I have the technology all figured out. Sorry about the pictures.

Thanks, Erush for helping out . I knew they were descent shots - couldn’t figure out what happened.

Just a point - those spots are on purpose. ( I didn’t have airbrush trouble)That’s the old thumb spritz with the paint soaked toothbrush.

RAF & SF - Damn! maybe the lighting isn’t good enough but I put the work in on those tracks.
Two coats of flat earth (thinned lightly to get some metallic show through)
one coat of flat earth airbrushed lightly on the wheels and tracks for dust,
silver dry brush,
then black dry brush on the road pads - I know and it doesn’t show that well

Petbats- this needed some help as well - but with all the layers of paint - it was no big deal

Styrene- I don’t have enough space to give the whole story, but there was alot of experimentation

Moses, Tigerman, Renarts, Dwight, Erock, Junior modeler - thanks for your comments

The pressure is off - a virgin no more

good job.
thanks for sharing,

Wow,

Bigger pictures and now I can see the detailing. Outstanding build!

I want one- I want one!

LOL MIke…the anaconda is no more…it was covered up nicely with a nice thin piece of epoxy putty simulating a canvas cover over some rear stowage. That Panzer III L has been completed for a while. Just never took pics of it. Somthing I have to do[:p].

Thanks

Muzzleflash and Erock (again) I appreciate it

looks very good i like the camo
i always love to see anti aircraft models[:D]

Build22.
YOU GOT BIG ONE’S

Hanging it out their for every one to see and you are open to the critisism.
You are a bigger modeler than I.
Now for my honest opinion of your kit.
Over all you have done a fine job.
However your kit seems a little bit raw.
It could use a couple acessory’s or tool’s laid about and some rope tie down’s
You would be amazed at what just a little bit like that will help.
It would also seem that your kit could use a dry brush in a light color.
Its the little touchs that will make the biggest improvements.
I hope these hints will help you on future kits.

Build, this is an outstanding model! Great job.
I love the camo, and I’m also a big fan of the thumb-flicked toothbrush.
I think your tracks looks great, by the way. Probably the only time you’ll see sharply defined black rubber on the tracks is if the vehicle just ran through a very clean stream, or was washed! Every vehicle that I’ve seen that has spent any amount of time in the field generally appears one earthy color to me.
Of course, let’s not forget that I’m red-green colorblind!
But I can see black, no problem!

Anyway, great build, Build!
