Currently building the accurate Miniatures Sb2u-3 Vindicator in 1/48, but have noticed that the kit does not include the faired over area immediately aft of the pilot’s position. All of my references show this area to be solid with canopy immediately forward and aft of it. The model depicts it as a continuous greenhouse… Anyone else build this kit and make this same discovery? Am considering taking some sheet styrene and strips and building it up.
Funny, the boxart shows it correctly. The pic of the built model on the bottom of the box looks as though the builder just painted over that center section. I can still see the framework under the open canopy. You could probably just sand down the framing on that section and save a lot of time and headache. That’s how I’m gonna do mine anyway!
[:|]Glad y’all posted about this little flaw… I never even noticed it during my initial review of the box and parts inventory… The RCs woulda been on me like FWs on a one-engined B-17 over Berlin…[;)]
I was just looking at my Vindicator kit and this kind of bumed me out also. Is this an easy fix and what thickness of styrene will it take . Sanding off the ribs seems like alot of work to do acuratly but if left in place will be visable from the inside. After my Zero this was to be my next project. any help will be appreaciated and thanks to the OP for bringing this up.
