VFA-192 F/A-18A USS Midway

This might be hard for some of you to believe, but I’m doing a real world subject for once[(-D]. This will make 2 this year[:O]. I’m doing a Hornet that was on the Midway at the same time that I was. This is a kind of stress reliever for me to do a simple model that actually has instructions, unlike my normal fair. It’s the Revell Blue Angel Hornet. I’m making minimal changes to get it closer to the real deal, but I’m not fretting over it too much. I’ve made changes to the nose gear to by removing some of the molded detail and adding wire to get it closer to the real thing. Here’s what I’ve got so far.[:)]

Decals are starting to go on. Seeing this bird come together is a bit like being in a time warp.[:)]

Eddie

THUMP

That was me hitting the floor…

A real-world subject?

You?

Eddie Miller?

I dunna believe it…

I think you snuck into someone else’s model shop and took some pictures of their bench. [;)]

Looks AOK so far Eddie, I await the finished model with baited breath…

Fade to Black…

Eddie, I give this one Five Stars *****! Only because it’s a RARE you build a model as is straight from the box. [(-D][:D]

Well done!

ARRRGGHHH!!!

Must resist…

the urge to…

glue on…

this Sopwith Camel wing…

to the landing gear.

Oh brother, now that’s willpower[:D]

Later that evening…

hi, I’m Eddie and I’m a kit basher.

Hi Eddie

I haven’t kit bashed for 73 straight parts (sponsor smiles, lady in front row has a tear in here eye and the group nods approvingly.)

What have you done with Eddie!!! Where is he? Where have you taken him?!!!

Lookikng really nice Eddie. OOB or from the inner depths of your mind, I enjoy seeing your builds.

I just caught the last lines. Now that’s funny![(-D][(-D][#toast] I knew building something OBB would be a little out of character, but I wasn’t sure if anyone would catch it.[swg] Doing an OOB sometimes helps recharge my batteries when I’m at a loss for ideas on my whiffs and bashes. It seems to be working because I’m working on some things for Hogzilla right now.[:)]

Eddie

Who makes the VFA-192 decals? Are they still available? I always like their birds.

I really don’t know. I got them from a friend and there was no name on them in english. There is some kanji, but I don’t read Japanese.[:)]

Eddie

Well, I said I wasn’t going to go to any great detail with this one, but I didn’t care for the kit supplied HUD, so I’m making my own. Thank goodness for hi mag glasses.[swg]
