i have a question regarding varnishes that I would like your help on. I usually don’t varnish but am painting some game pieces so they will be handled.
my question is I’m airbrushing the pieces with tamiya acrylic but also doing some highlights and smaller areas using Vallejo acrylic. When it comes to a final varnish should I use a tamiya clear flat or use a Vallejo flat?
You can really go with anybody’s varnish when you’re airbrushing it. Personally, I like using MRP clear varnishes, which are all acrylic lacquers. Compatibility of materials isn’t much of an issue when you’re airbrushing one thing over the other, just as long as you allow for a sufficient amount of time for a full cure of your paint before clearcoating.
Cheers for the tips. i see there is also a Vallejo polyurethane water based varnish. Would this be a batter choice for game pieces that will be handled or just stick to a normal Matt
