Vallejo bottle cap breakage Q

Hello all,

One constant I seem to have with my Vallejo paints is that after several years time, the bottle caps basically disintegrate. The shatter when I either put them on or take them off of my older bottles. Does anybody else here encounter that, and if you do, what do you do to replace the cap? Seeing how most of my bottles are over half full, it seems a huge waste of paint and money to throw them out.

No idea on keeping in original bottle, but how about some 10ml Tamiya bottles or model master.

That’s true, Tamiya does sell empty paint bottles. I wonder if anybody makes replacement caps?

I have seen empty Vallejo style bottles at a LHS. I want to say they were labeled as AK

Another option is Hobby Lobby. They have several types of paint storage canisters, on the same aisle as the artist paints & brushes. IIRC they even have some Vallejo type bottles with metal spouts under the cap for piping beads of paint (weld like).

Ed thanks for those tips. I’ll look for those items.

Out of curiousity I did a websearch using “plastic dropper bottle 17ml” and it returned a lot of hits. It appears Amazon has several pretty inexpensive options. Most of the reviews are good but interestingly some folks mention the annoyance of broken lids. Maybe Vallejo uses some of the same manufacturers.

Thank you Gil. I’ll have a look at that option.
