Old Monogram 1/48th scale w/ scratchbuilt interior details, rescribed panels lines and AM decals:

…all comments welcomed…

She’s a beautiful build, and the first B-26 i’ve ever seen with the NMF! Of course the pin-up girl isn’t as nice as the last one, but i guess not all the crew chiefs then were artists. Still that is a beautiful bird![8D]

Wow…shes a beauty!

Excellent job…say what you will about the cheaper American plastic…they can really be built up into great looking birds…great work

Nice build, looks like a flawless painting job.

I have a question about the barrels of the machine guns in the side blisters. There angle seems off, is that normal?

Nice build Eric, looks flawless to me! [tup]

I thought it would be an XB-70 [:O] …But that looks really nice.

…good eye…there was some offset from the fueselage to get them pointing straight, but I probably overdid it…

Another boobtacular build. Did you hand-paint that cheesecake yourself?

[:P][:P][:P]…[(-D]

You did a really great job of scribing the panel lines- they look as though they were cast that way. What scribing tool did you use to get such a nice finish?

Very nice work on that classic kit.

…no, couldn’t get my girlfriend to sit still long enough for a model…it is actually from a an old Aeromaster B-17 decal sheet, from a plane called something like “5 pounds for breakfast”…

…thanks, use a mixture of old dental tools and newer modeling tools…an old, sharpened dental pic is very useful in all aspects of modeling…those old Monogram/Revell 48th scale bombers are still classics in my eyes and until someone decides to redo them they are still good platforms for building…

You know, I’d seen an ad for a scribing tool for about $20, and it looked like a dental pic to me. Now you’ve confirmed it- bet I can pick one up at Walmart or the likes cheap. Thanks for the tip!

Eric,

That is the finest looking B-26 I have seen! The nmf is spectacular, is that AlClad? Your sense of detailing is perfect to mey eye, tastefully understated and so effective. This one could pass as the real thing! Thanks so much for sharing with us!

wow…thanks a lot…I always thought this one was the weakest in my collection…

Looks good from here MR.

Regards, Rick

Jon, ask your dentist for his old tools. I got several pics and other tools, plus a handful of burrs that I use for drilling. Plus I can clean my own teeth in a pinch.

LOL…you can also make some good toothpicks out of left-over sprue…lol…

A critism, if you don’t mind. If you are not after critism, just say so and I will stop. I definately do not mean to be busting on anyone. Although I am not a fan of very accentuated panel lines since they would not be visible on real aircraft from the same scale distance I understand why people do it on models to keep them from looking toyish. The thing I noticed on the B-26 is that while the panel lines that probably would not be too visible, are very dark, but the breaks between the control surfaces (rudder to tail, ailerons to wing, etc.) which should be dark, are the same color as things around them making them look like solid objects. You build some very nice models and I hope you take these suggestions as a way to improve since we all want to build better models.
