I’ve recently purchased both of Italeri’s 1/72 V-22 Osprey (kit 640,068) and was wondering if a more updated version is available perhaps from another manufacturer or if a mod kit exists. Both Italeri kits have the early/rollout body.
I haven’t seen many people model the V-22 and wonder if any of the forum posters have completed either of the kits or have done a mod. Any pictures or info is appreciated!
i’d like to know too, but i recently started on the eyetie 1/72 and had it trimmed subassembled and dry fitted just sitting watching tv; i have never dealt with such an easy, no hassle, kit before. a friend sent me some decent decals. for a duffer like me, this is great, only worry is paint color looks same as decals? anyone have a suggestion for crew figures, i usually use preiser luftwaffey folk but they don’t wear helmets. i’d also like to do one with the wingoid rotated for storage, looks like some kind of transformer or multitool.
The Navy Seahawk crews are pretty static, I have a couple of sets of them. Not very animated other than moving arms to a different position, but better than having thier hands in thier laps.
You may be able to get some of the Hasegawa 1/72 Navy Pilot/groundcrew figure sets to work for what you want, they would be easy to adapt.
Check out these photos from the Air Force Special Operations Command. They are beginning to have their CV-22s delivered. Note that the refueling probe, when retracted, is really only a stub and doesn’t stick out the way the MH-53 and MH-60 refuelding probes do.
Another little tidbit of info- the latest Ospreys are leaving the assembly line without the red and white stripes painted on the proprotor tips. I don’t think the AF ever wanted them there to begin with.
