Greetings all,
In one of the threads, I asked what was a better way for replicating glass bezels on aircraft.
One mentioned UV clear resin/kit and posted a Amazon link.
I had it saved and it was accidentally deleted.. Whoever it was, could you repost it please?
It was a particular UV resin kit that they liked a d was recommended.
Thank you in advance!
Happy Modeling,
Mike
Following this! I’d like to know, too.
You know, I have a bunch of the stuff from back in my serious fly-tying days. It’s now probably 15 years old, but I wonder if it’s still good?
I use two methods of replicating clear bezels/domes. Both are pretty easy.
-
Doll eyes. Check your craft store for packs of different sizes of googly dolls eyes. You’ll need to carefully slice off the backing to get the clear dome. Save the eye pupil disc in your spares box. You never know when a little black disc might be useful.
-
Gorilla Clear Glue. Must be the CLEAR glue. A dot of this dries to a clear dome or bezel. It’s also great for headlight lenses.
Hope this meets your needs but, if not, they’re both nifty modeling tips!
It was most likely a ‘domed’ or ‘doming’ clear UV resin. It’s got a slightly thicker viscosity than the normal UV resin.
Solarez sells a doming UV resin: Solarez | Solarez UV Cure Doming Resin, UV Epoxy, Light cured art resin, UV Epoxy, safe epoxy, non hazardous epoxy
This is the one I posted
