USSR Mig air defence gray?

I am building the Esci 1/48 MIG-23. Its basically been a frustraing experience - I’ve put more filler onto this model than any other I’ve built. But it finally looks like a MIG-23 (on the outside anyway).

My question - what FS color is a good approzimation for early-70’s USSR air defence gray? I can’t seem to find any good refences for this color on the net…

Thanks!

Mark

I’m not entirely sure if this is going to help, but take a look at
some Mig-31 pictures and decide if that is close to the right shade.

My research on my Mig build has concluded that US light ghost gray
is about right for the Mig-31

Try here they list a cross reference for modern soviet/russian planes by aircraft type:

I always though it was some where between light ghost gray and dark ghost gray.

Note: They blue-grey for the Mig-23 on the linked chart is for the belly of the camo scheme (I think), best to use the Mig-25/Su-24 color for reference.

Also check out the color on these color profiles at this excellent site for Russian aircraft:

It refences Humbrol paints, but you can back reference from a this chart to find an FS #.
