USS CANBERRA

Greetings all

Can anyone tell me what class of ship the USS CANBERRA was and if there is one available in kit form?

Cheers

Mick

Iron Shipwrites has one listed. Expensive, but a very nice looking model.

As for the class and history just google and you’ll get it all.

The USS Canberra was a Baltimore-class cruiser. Trumpeter makes a Baltimore in 1:700 scale and that would likely be your best bet for an as-launched Canberra.

After the war she, along with the Boston, were converted to missile cruiser.

The Trump Baltimore is probbaly still your best bet for beginning the conversion. Scatch-build the missile decks and controllers from Evergreen plastic stock.

revell made 2 different kits of the baltimore class, 1 all gun cruiser & the 2nd as a missile cruiser as i have both. they are not great at all as both are flatbottom & the 5" turret sides are sloping where the life rafts are when the sides are supposed to be vertical.

Thanks for your help guys. I think the all gun cruiser is the one for me.

Cheers
