USS B-29???

Another post I readed prompted me to ask this question. Many years ago I remember watching a movie that I believed was a Robinson Cruso type movie that involved a group of stranded people using the fusalage of a B-29 to make a boat and sail off an island. Does ring any bells for anybody and does anyone remember the name of the movie?

Remember the movie, but don’t remember the working title. I’ll see what I can come up with.

I remember that movie, but I can’t remember the name of it. I’ll see if I can find anything.

Almost sounds like an episode of “Gilligan’s Island”! [:D]

if anybody even knows the name of some of the actors I could cross reference it that way maybe…

The movie, I think was called “Robinson Crusoe, USN” and I think it starred Fred MacMurray (I could be wrong about that, though)

You know, now that I think about it, I think that that’s wrong. I do remeber a B-29 crashing on an island, and the pilot escaping with a marooned ex-japanese soldier (and a kid, I think) by using the B-29 fuselage as a boat (with the vertical stablilizer down for use as a rudder. Anyway, I can’t remember the name either…sorry

I think it starred Elliott Gould and was a Disney movie… I believe the title was “The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark” (movie buffs, correct me if I’m wrong)… he was a pilot who had to ferry a missionary and two kids to some place when he went off course due to a radio that interfered with his compass. I remember they also met two Japanese stragglers on the island they crashed in. I recall quite a bit about it since I saw the movie twice back then… ah, I miss being a kid…

Cheers,
onyan

I think Onyan has it right! Pretty good movie, I thought…

Onyan got it, it was “The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark”. They were supposed to be carrying animals on the thing too. Ive never seen the movie but after being in a B-29 I think the most you could get in there animal wise would be maybe a few goats and a small donkey. With all that I have no idea where the kids were supposed to be hiding.

There was another movie with a B-29 in it starring Dennis Hopper called “Riders of the Storm”.

The real reason for this post is that I’ve been looking for one movie starring a B-29 and apparently they do some kinda time travel in it. I remember seeing the box for it at the video store when I was really little. I wanted my Dad to rent it so bad but he wouldnt because I believe it was rated R. All I remember about the cover was it had the B-29 in flight and some guy swinging off a rope hanging out of the bomb bay. If anyone can help me find that you’ll definatly solve one of my lifelong mysteries!

I know that there was a cover of air classics from the day that was a shot of that B-29, I have it in a basement but too bad it’s a seven hour drive from here or else I’ld be able to look it up.

That would be an old disney movie by the name of “The Last Flight of Noahs Ark”.
It was rumored that they cut up 5 B-29s for the filming of it.I have a copy that I bought through a local vid store. It’s not a bad movie but a little cheesy.I just had to own a copy because it had a B-29 in it in flight.

This movie “Lt Robinson Crusoe, USN” starred Dick Van Dick as an A-7 pilot whose bird went down and he was stranded. Nancy Kwan was “Friday” and also a Chimp.

Dick Van Dyke was flying an F-8 Crusader in that one, but you are correct on all the rest therriman. I have no life if I can remember trivia like this. Alas and alack!

OOPS! It’s been a LONG time since I saw the movie.
